The Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk 2 in .303 British is the last variant of the legendary British service rifle to be manufactured in the United Kingdom. Introduced after World War II, it is considered by historians and sport shooters to be the absolute pinnacle in the evolution of Lee-Enfield bolt-action rifles. This rifle was built in 1954 at the state-owned British arms factory ROF Fazakerley in Liverpool.
The key improvement: The No. 4 Mk 2 was officially introduced in July 1949. The most important technical change was moving the trigger pivot point directly to the metal receiver. This kept the trigger consistently precise, unaffected by the wood.
This rifle is a classic example of the famous “Irish Contract.” It was part of the official supply contract for around 50,000 rifles for the Republic of Ireland. Since the serial number falls exactly within the specified Irish serial number range, this rifle was produced for the Irish military. The rifle with this serial number falls almost exactly in the middle of the second half of this delivery and is very likely unused. It very likely still has a nearly factory-new barrel with sharp lands and grooves, as well as excellent mechanical accuracy.
It comes from an inherited collection that I am gradually selling off after careful consideration. It’s not easy to part with these pieces, but I want them to go to people who appreciate their quality and history.

Sie wurde nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg eingeführt und gilt unter Historikern und Sportschützen als der absolute Höhepunkt in der Evolution der Lee-Enfield-Repetierbüchsen. Das Gewehr wurde im Jahr 1954 in der staatlichen britischen Waffenfabrik ROF Fazakerley in Liverpool gebaut.
Die entscheidende Verbesserung: Die No. 4 Mk 2 wurde im Juli 1949 offiziell eingeführt. Die wichtigste technische Änderung war die Verlegung des Abzugsdrehpunktes direkt an das metallene Systemgehäuse (Receiver). Dadurch blieb der Abzug unabhängig von Holzeinflüssen konstant präzise.
Dieses Gewehr ist ein klassischer Vertreter des berühmten „Irish Contract“ (Irland-Vertrag). Die Waffe war Teil des offiziellen Liefervertrags über rund 50.000 Gewehre für die Republik Irland. Da die Nummer exakt im festgelegten irischen Nummernkreis liegt, wurde dieses Gewehr für das irische Militär produziert. Die Waffe mit dieser Seriennummer liegt ziemlich genau in der Mitte der zweiten Hälfte dieser Lieferung und ist mit sehr hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit unbenutzt und besitzt sehr wahrscheinlich auch heute noch einen nahezu fabrikneuen Lauf mit scharfen Zügen und Feldern sowie eine hervorragende mechanische Präzision.
Sie stammt aus einer geerbten Sammlung, die ich nach reiflicher Überlegung nach und nach auflöse. Es fällt nicht leicht, sich von diesen Stücken zu trennen, jedoch sollen sie in die Hände Personen gelangen, die ihre Qualität und Geschichte zu schätzen wissen.
Das Gewehr kann nach vorheriger Terminvereinbarung selbstverständlich vor Ort besichtigt und begutachtet werden. Ich lege großen Wert auf Transparenz, sodass Sie sich persönlich vom Zustand der Waffe überzeugen können.
Der Preis ist Verhandlungsbasis. Allerdings bitte ich darum realistisch zu bleiben.
