La 208 era il modello di punta della Hammerli, campione mondiale per diversi anni nella categoria pistola standard, caratterizzata da finiture e accuratizzazioni al top (la fabbrica dichiarava 655 differenti passaggi nella lavorazione) e guancette anatomiche regolabili in legno di noce; fu subito affiancata dalla 211 con guancette standard e la “economica” mod. 215 che sacrificava qualcosa nelle finiture senza compromettere le prestazioni.
