Accessory Base · Picatinny · UTG Over Bore
TL-BPAD2: switch the Over-Bore Bipod between prepared platforms
This single Picatinny base is designed for the spigot of the UTG Over Bore Bipod TL-BPOB01-A. It stays screwed onto the rail; the bipod is quickly detached from the base. This allows an existing Over-Bore Bipod to be used on multiple suitably prepared platforms.
Honestly important: You are neither buying a complete bipod nor a universal adapter. Without the matching TL-BPOB01-A spigot, the TL-BPAD2 is not the right product level.
Check interface first
Our honest assessment
The TL-BPAD2 solves a very specific problem: An existing UTG Over Bore Bipod should be used on more than one Picatinny platform without having to realign the weapon-side clamping each time. For this, each platform gets its own base; the bipod spigot is released at the locking lever and re-engaged.
The term QD refers to this separation point between spigot and base. The base itself is screwed to the Picatinny rail via a T20 side plate. Anyone expecting a tool-free universal base removable from the rail would misunderstand the function.
Fits well if … you already have the Over-Bor
e-Zweibein TL-BPOB01-A has, want to prepare another Picatinny platform and have at least 40 mm suitable rail space free there.
Rather not suitable if … you are first looking for a complete bipod, use a different spigot, or only have M-LOK, KeyMod, ARCA or a sling swivel without a matching Picatinny adapter.
Purchase check and proven compatibility
Bipod counterpart Leapers explicitly names the spigot of the UTG Over Bore Bipod TL-BPOB01-A. There is no approval for other UTG bipods or third-party spigots.
Weapon-side mount A MIL-STD-1913/Picatinny profile is required. The manufacturer’s page states 1.58 inches or 40 mm of required rail space.
Lateral clearance The base is 47 mm wide. Clamp plate, locking lever and tension knob must not collide with light mount, sling point, foregrip or support hand.
Complete solution needed? If bipod and spigot are missing, the complete UTG Over Bore Bipod TL-BPOB01-A is the suitable purchase level.
What the features practically change
Prepared change point The rail clamp can be positioned once appropriately on any platform. When changing, only the compatible bipod spigot is loosened, inserted and checked for full engagement.
T20 side plate Leapers specifies 35 in-lbs for the screws of the side plate. This value applies exclusively to the Picatinny clamp – not to the locking lever or tension knob.
Adjustable tilt resistance Overview and instructions explain that the knob changes the tension felt when tilting. The range of motion belongs to the complete bipod system, not to a base usable alone.
Compact aluminum construction 40 × 47 × 23 mm and 74 g keep the additional base manageable. Still, besides length, the lateral installation space on the specific handguard also counts.
Typical misbuys, disadvantages and limits
The most common misbuy is the assumption that “adapter” means a universal translation of any bipods to Picatinny. In fact, TL-BPAD2 is the specific base of the TL-BPOB01-A system. A Picatinny rail alone is not enough; the matching Over-Bore spigot must also be present.
The base remains screwed and requires a T20 drive as well as controlled torque. In addition, the structured manufacturer specification states “Tension Adjustable Tilting: No”, although overview and instructions describe the effect of the tension knob. Therefore, only this documented knob function is explained here, no additional locking performance.
Assembly, use, care and safety
Before any work Fully unload the weapon, remove magazine, check cartridge chamber and remove ammunition from the work area. The manufacturer’s instructions remain decisive for sequence and safety check.
Set position The instructions show the base – depending on the desired leg position – on the 12- or 6-o’clock rail and as far as possible towards the muzzle. Simulate both leg positions and clearance before tightening.
Set rail clamp Apply the side plate evenly and tighten the T20 screws according to Leapers’ specification with 35 in-lbs. A controllable torque wrench helps to reproducibly maintain the documented value.
Check change After each repositioning, check full engagement of the spigot, firm base fit, free movement space and appropriate tilt resistance. Remove dirt dry at the separation point.
Source-based user tips
A verified owner report from 27.02.2025 rates the TL-BPAD2 with 5 out of 5 stars and explicitly names the use of an Over-Bore bipod on several weapons as a strength. This confirms the intended change benefit, but remains a single rating and is not a long-term test.
Practical consequence: Mark on each v
prepared platform the used rail section and document the orientation of the base. After installation, always perform the same quick check: locking, tilt resistance, free play, and secure fit.
Useful Alternatives
Over-Bore system not yet available The UTG Over Bore Bipod TL-BPOB01-A includes the complete bipod system with the required counterpart. This additional base does not replace it.
Direct Picatinny bipod sought The UTG GOLIATH QD Bipod 6–8 inch is a complete Picatinny alternative. Height, leg mechanism, and application concept differ; the link is not an equivalence or platform approval.
Also suitable: to the UTG collection , to bipods and rests for shooting sports & range, as well as to bipods and rests for hunting . The topic collections help with comparison; they do not replace an interface check.
Technical Data with Practical Interpretation
Model and product type UTG TL-BPAD2, additional QD base for the Over-Bore Bipod TL-BPOB01-A; not a complete bipod.
Interface Picatinny on the handguard, UTG Over-Bore spigot on the bipod side. No approval exists for other spigots.
Rail requirements and dimensions At least 40 mm Picatinny space; 40 mm length, 47 mm width, and 23 mm height. The width requires an additional lateral clearance check.
Pivot point above rail 11.76 mm to the center of the pivot point. This value describes the geometry of the base, not the full center height of the bipod.
Material and surface 6061-T6 aluminum with anodized surface; black single mount.
Weight and torque 74 g or 2.6 oz; 35 in-lbs on the T20 side plate. The documented torque value must not be applied to other controls.
Precisely documented scope of delivery
1 × UTG TL-BPAD2 Over Bore Bipod QD Mount.
Not included are the complete bipod, the Over-Bore spigot, firearm, Picatinny rail, and other accessories. A separate T20 key is not guaranteed as part of the current TL-BPAD2 product page delivery.
FAQ about the UTG TL-BPAD2
Is the TL-BPAD2 a complete bipod? No. It is only the additional Picatinny base for the spigot of the UTG Over Bore Bipod TL-BPOB01-A.
Does every UTG bipod fit this base? No. Leapers explicitly names the Over-Bore spigot of the TL-BPOB01-A. No reliable approval exists for other UTG or third-party bipods.
What can be quickly removed? The compatible bipod spigot is detached from the base via the locking lever. The base itself remains screwed onto the Picatinny rail via the T20 side plate.
How much Picatinny space is needed? The manufacturer specifies at least 1.58 inches or 40 mm. Additionally, enough lateral space must be free for the clamping plate, lever, tension knob, and handling.
What torque applies? 35 in-lbs for the T20 screws of the side plate. The value does not apply to locking lever or tension knob.
Is the tilt tension adjustable? Manufacturer overview and instructions describe the effect of the tension knob; a structured table row contradicts this. Therefore, only the specifically documented knob function is guaranteed, no further locking.
What is included in the delivery? One TL-BPAD2 QD Mount. Bipod, spigot, firearm, rail, and other accessories are not part of this single item.
Black Raptor · choose the right product level
Additional base instead of universal promise.
The TL-BPAD2 is strong when the matching Over-Bore system is already available and several Picatinny platforms are to be cleanly prepared. Crucial are spigot, 40 mm rail space, lateral clearance, and controlled T20 clamping.

Zusatzbasis · Picatinny · UTG Over Bore
Unsere ehrliche Einordnung
Picatinny-Klemmung Die Basis benötigt etwa 40 mm Schienenplatz.
