Accessories on the G36 handguard don’t need the same rail length everywhere. This three-piece set deliberately distributes the available Picatinny space: two short 7-slot rails on the sides and one long 13-slot rail on the bottom. This way, there’s less material on the sides in the grip area, while more room is created underneath for longer attachments.
The rails are mounted on the existing G36 mounting points. Each has two screw holes. This set is therefore not a universal adapter for M-LOK, KeyMod, or any receiver rail, but a platform-specific retrofit solution.
Left and right, 7 slots are often enough for compact accessory mounts without unnecessarily widening the hand rest. The 13-slot rail on the bottom offers more length adjustment when position and hand spacing need to be fine-tuned. The numbered slots help document a chosen position and reproduce it later.
However, the benefit only arises if the rails are actually needed. If you only need a single short mount, carrying the full set means more parts on the handguard than necessary. In this case, the linked two-piece set is the slimmer choice.
Weight is deliberately not added as a set value: The current Leapers model page lists 36 g per short rail and 56 g for the long rail. UTG Europe, however, lists an older total value of 4.2 oz. Since these figures don’t add up mathematically, only the current individual values are given here; no total weight is claimed.
The strongest reason to buy is the sensible mix of two compact side surfaces and a longer underside. This way, not every position has to be covered with a long rail. At the same time, there’s enough space to mount accessories not just somehow, but fitting the hand position.
The most common misconception would be to consider Picatinny alone as proof of compatibility. Picatinny describes the mount for the later accessory; the connection to the handguard is via the G36 mounting points. If these are missing or the hole spacing and contact surface don’t match, even suitable Picatinny accessories won’t help.
Buy if: a compatible G36 handguard with the intended mounting points is available, with two compact mounts on the sides and one longer one underneath.
