Petromax · Fire Pit · Black Edition
Pyron Black Edition: double-walled fire pit with secondary combustion The Petromax Pyron Black Edition is a freestanding fire pit for garden, terrace, and outdoor kitchen. Its double-walled construction channels preheated air back into the combustion chamber, supporting as complete a burn as possible.
Important: “Secondary combustion” does not mean smokeless. Wood quality, ignition phase, air supply, and fuel amount still significantly influence smoke and flame appearance.
Our honest assessment
The Pyron is interesting if you’re looking for a robust fire pit with controlled airflow and don’t just want a simple bowl. At around 10.7 kg, it’s noticeably heavier than lightweight camping fire bowls, but it’s not an ultra-mobile product.
It only becomes truly versatile for cooking with the right accessories. The optional Petromax grill plate is not included in this listing.
Works well if … … you want a stable fire pit for terrace, garden, or more stationary camping.
… airflow control and a calmer burn behavior are more important to you than minimal packing size.
… you plan to expand the Pyron later with suitable cooking or grilling accessories.
Less suitable if … … you want a lightweight fire bowl
for trekking or frequent carrying.
… you expect a guaranteed smoke-free fire pit.
… you’re looking for a complete grill set including a grill plate.
Features with practical impact
Double-walled air guidance Preheated air can enter the combustion again in the upper area. With good dry fuel, this supports a clean, stable flame.
Charcoal grate and ash pan The fuel doesn’t just lie on a closed bottom. Air can flow in from below; ash can be removed more precisely after it has completely cooled down.
Three legs The screwed legs create distance from the ground and a defined stand. Still, a fireproof, load-bearing base is mandatory.
Black Edition The dark version mainly changes the look. The fire pit remains a utility item: heat, ash, and outdoor use leave visible marks over time.
Limits, disadvantages, and avoiding a bad purchase
No “smokeless” promise: Even secondary combustion only works if fuel, temperature, and air supply are right. Wet wood and the starting phase can still produce significant smoke.
With 74 × 44.5 × 44.5 cm and approx. 10.7 kg, the Pyron needs space for storage and transport. For sensitive terrace surfaces, heat protection and spark control must also be considered.
Technical data with practical interpretation
Material Double-walled stainless steel construction – robust for heat and regular outdoor use.
Dimensions Approx. 74 × 44.5 × 44.5 cm. This is a real fire pit, not a small tabletop grill.
Weight Approx. 10.7 kg – portable, but more for car, garden, and base camp than for long carrying distances.
Combustion chamber Approx. 25 liters according to available product data. This offers space for several logs but also requires sufficient safety distance.
Scope of delivery
Petromax Pyron Black Edition with body, charcoal grate, ash pan, bottom, three holders for the ash pan, three legs, assembly material, and user manual. Grill plate and other cooking accessories are not included.
Safe use and care
Only outdoors Operate the fire pit exclusively outdoors on a suitable, non-flammable surface. Never leave open fire unattended and observe local fire bans.
After the fire Let it cool completely before transport, emptying, or cleaning. Only remove ash when you are sure no embers remain.
FAQ
Is the Pyron Black Edition smoke-free? No. Secondary combustion can support a more complete burn but does not prevent smoke under all conditions.
Can I cook on the Pyron? Yes, with appropriate accessories like the matching grill plate. This is not included with this item.
What is the ash pan for? It facilitates controlled removal of combustion residues after complete cooling and supports an orderly setup.
Is the Black Edition technically different from a normal Pyron? The data set describes the same basic construction with double-walled air guidance; the Black Edition additionally features the dark look.
Black Raptor · honestly classified
The Pyron Black Edition is a stable fire pit for people who consciously work with wood fire. Its added value lies in construction, air guidance, and expandability – not in an unrealistic promise of completely smoke-free fire. (Show description in original language)

Petromax · Feuerstelle · Black Edition
