Why is shoe wax used for waterproofing instead of leather fat? Unfortunately, many shoe stores sell fats for waterproofing leather shoes. Using fat for waterproofing is incorrect. Shoe wax is organic or synthetic paraffin and generally serves as a repellent barrier on the surface of the leather. It hardly penetrates the leather structure, but holds very well and protects the leather from harmful external influences when applied correctly. Shoe wax always contains a carrier liquid that makes the wax applicable and then evaporates. This makes the wax hard and thus polishable. Leather fat or fat mixtures (often with beeswax), on the other hand, penetrate the leather after application. They nourish the hard, dry, or brittle leather from the inside, allow the fibers to swell again, and give the leather substance from within. The use of fat or leather balm restores volume, smoothness, and suppleness to the leather. Fat generally repels water, but it is not a waterproofing agent for leather shoes, as it makes the leather very soft. This is undesirable for 95% of existing leather hunting shoes or robust leather half shoes.

Waxing instructions: If the shoes are muddy after a day of hunting, please do not wash them off with water! Let the dirt dry and brush it off with a medium-hard cleaning brush. Fine residual dirt and dust can be left on the shoe and polished in with the next layer of wax. This makes the surface of the shoe even harder and more sealed, waterproofing the leather. The wax is evenly applied to the entire shoe with an application brush. After a drying phase of at least 15 minutes, the shoes are polished with a soft natural hair brush, which evenly distributes the wax on the surface and hardens it. This process should be repeated regularly; the frequency depends on how often and how intensively the shoe is used or comes into contact with moisture. With daily or intensive use of the shoe, care should be done every 3 to 4 days. If the leather gets wet despite the wax protection layer - whether from outside through water or from inside through sweating - stuff the shoes with paper, e.g., kitchen towels, and let them dry slowly in the air. Do not place them in direct sunlight or dry them on the stove or heater - otherwise, the leather and the rubber edges under tension will shrink significantly, the shoe will become smaller and collapse. The result: The leather becomes brittle and cracked!

To prevent the leather from drying out, the shoes should be treated with leather balm (Art.Nr. 110404) 2 to 3 times a year before waxing. This balm penetrates the leather and keeps it supple. After that, the shoes are waxed again to achieve a smooth, water-repellent surface. Continuous care with wax and occasional use of leather balm significantly extends the lifespan of your leather shoes!

Metalldose mit 250 ml Inhalt zur Imprägnierung von LederWarum verwendet man zur Imprägnierung Schuhwachs und kein Lederfett?Bedauerlicherweise werden in vielen Schuhgeschäften Fette zum Imprägnieren von Lederschuhen verkauft. Fett zur Imprägnierung zu nutzen ist falsch. Schuhwachs ist organisches oder synthetisches Paraffin und steht generell als abweisende Trennschicht auf der Oberfläche des Leders. Es zieht kaum ein in die Lederstruktur, hält aber sehr gut und bewahrt das Leder bei richtiger Anwendung vor schädlichen Einflüssen von außen. Im Schuhwachs ist immer eine Trägerflüssigkeit die das Wachs erst auftragbar macht und anschließend verdunstet. Das Wachs wird dadurch hart und ist somit polierbar. Lederfett oder Fettgemische (häufig mit Bienenwachs) hingegen dringen nach dem Aufbringen in das Leder ein. Sie nähren von innen das harte, trockene oder spröde Leder, lassen die Faser wieder aufquellen und geben dem Leder von innen Substanz. Der Einsatz von Fett oder Lederbalsam gibt dem Leder wieder Volumen, Glätte und Geschmeidigkeit. Fett im generellen weist zwar Wasser ab, ist aber kein Imprägnierungsmittel für Lederschuhe, da das Leder dadurch sehr weich wird. Das will man bei 95 % der vorhandenen Lederjagdschuhe oder robusten Lederhalbschuhe nicht.Wachsanleitung:Sollten die Schuhe nach einem Jagdtag schlammig sein, bitte nicht nass abwaschen! Den Schmutz trocknen lassen und mit einer mittelharten Reinigungsbürste abbürsten. Feinen Restschmutz und Staub kann man auf dem Schuh belassen und es mit der nächsten Wachsschicht hinein polieren. Die Oberfläche des Schuhes wird dadurch noch härter und geschlossener und dichtet das Leder ab.Das Wachs wird mit einer Auftragsbürste gleichmäßig auf den kompletten Schuh aufgetragen. Nach einer Trocknungsphase von mindestens 15 Minuten werden die Schuhe mit einer weichen Naturhaarbürste poliert, damit wird das Wachs an der Oberfläche gleichmäßig verteilt und härtet aus. Diesen Vorgang wiederholt man regelmäßig, die Häufigkeit ist davon abhängig, wie oft und wie intensiv man den Schuh nutzt oder er mit Feuchtigkeit in Berührung kommt. Bei täglicher bzw. intensiver Nutzung des Schuhs sollte die Pflege alle 3 bis 4 Tage erfolgen. Wird das Leder trotz der Wachs-Schutzschicht nass - sei es von außen durch Wasser oder von innen durch Schwitzen - die Schuhe mit Papier z. B. Küchentüchern ausstopfen und langsam an der Luft trocknen lassen. Nicht in die pralle Sonne stellen oder am Ofen oder der Heizung trocknen - ansonsten ziehen sich das Leder und die unter Spannung stehenden Gummiränder massiv zusammen, der Schuh wird kleiner und fällt förmlich ein. Die Folge: Das Leder wird spröde und rissig !Um einem Austrocknen des Leders entgegen zu wirken sollten die Schuhe 2 bis 3 x pro Jahr vor dem Wachsen mit Lederbalsam (Art.Nr. 110404) eingelassen. Dieses Balsam zieht in das Leder ein und hält es geschmeidig. Danach wachst man die Schuhe wieder um eine glatte, wasserabweisende Oberfläche zu erreichen.
