The leather loop with an opening D-ring allows items like knives to "hang" lower on the belt. This significantly increases wearing comfort, especially in combination with jackets, backpacks, etc. A dangler also makes it easier to sit down, walk, or climb without the knife getting in the way. The D-ring resembles a carabiner and is made of 8mm thick aluminum, which can withstand up to 400kg (please do not use it for climbing).
