Viking Nordmann Battle Axe with a blade made of forged carbon steel and hardwood handle.

The Viking Nordmann Battle Axe was already used in the 6th century AD in early medieval Scandinavia as a tool and weapon. Its characteristic beard or hook provided a larger cutting surface without significantly increasing the overall weight of the axe. This shape also proved to be extremely useful in combat, as it allowed the user to wrench weapons or shields from the opponent's hands. The axe was mostly made of wrought iron with a cutting edge of steel, making the axe cheaper to produce than a sword.

Wikinger Nordmann Bartaxt mit Axtblatt aus geschmiedet Kohlenstoffstahl und Hartholzgriff.

Die Wikinger Nordmann Bartaxt wurde bereits im 6. Jahrhundert n.
