The P08 uses a unique knee joint locking system that is distinctly different from other semi-automatic pistols. When fired, the bolt is pushed back, causing the knee joint to bend upwards and thus open the bolt. This complex mechanism is technically elaborate but extremely precisely crafted – a hallmark of German engineering of that time.
