The Cataclyst, with its total of 110 layers of damask, is not only a capable Gentleknife but also the standard EDC from Böker Plus. The narrow, filigree, double-edged hollow grind blade opens very smoothly via a ball bearing using a flipper. The knife does not lock in the traditional sense but is securely held in position by a detent ball. A press on the spine of the blade brings it back to folding. Additional safety in handling is provided by the texturing in the thumb rest area and in the backspacer. The straight-line manufacturing and construction of the front handle scale are machined from solid material, while the right handle scale is also machined from solid material but additionally features a satin finish. A deep carry clip (tip-up/r) and the lanyard hole, as well as a nylon sheath, ensure targeted use and adequate storage, as well as securing the knife.
A determination notice from the BKA states that the detent ball locking mechanism does not meet the criteria of a manual locking device. This can be verified in the so-called determination notice Z-524.

Das Cataclyst mit seinen insgesamt 110 Lagen Damast ist neben dem Standard EDC von Böker Plus ebenfalls ein fähiges Gentleknife. Die schmale filigrane beidseitig geschliffene Hohlkehl-Klinge öffnet sich sehr leichtgängig über ein Kugellager mittels Flipper, Das Messer verriegelt nicht klassisch sondern wird mittels Detent-Ball sicher in der Position gehalten. Ein Druck auf den Klingenrücken bringt diese wieder zum Einklappen der Klinge. Zusätzliche Sicherheit im Umgang bringen die Riffelungen im Bereich der Daumenauflage und im Backspacer mitsich. Die geradlinige Fertigung und Konstruktion der vorderen Griffschale sind aus dem vollen gefräßt, wobei die rechte Griffschale ebenso aus dem vollen gefräßt ist, jedoch zusätzlich mit einem Satin-Finish versehen. Ein Deep Carry Clip (Tip-up/r) und die Fangriemenöse, sowie ein Nylonholster sorgen für den gezielten Einsatz und einer adäquaten Aufbewarung, sowie Sicherung des Messers.
Ein Feststellungsbescheid des BKA besagt, dass die Detent-Ball Verriegelung keine Kriterien einer manuellen Sperrvorrichtung erfüllt. Das kann im sogenannten Feststellungsbescheides Z-524 nachgeprüft werden.
