Scottish two-handed broad sword with stainless steel blade and chrome-plated guard made of steel. Handle wrapped in leather over wood.

The Scottish two-handed broad sword is a large sword from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period. It features a long blade with an overall length of approximately 1.5–2.0 meters, which is typically balanced in the middle or at the grip. The handle is designed for two hands and is often fitted with a wooden or iron fitting. Hand guard or cross guard provide protection for the hand. The blade is typically flat, broad, and heavy, suitable for both cutting and thrusting. The weight varies roughly between 2–4 kg depending on the specimen. Its area of use was infantry and marching formations. In duels, it served as a symbolic weapon of the Highlanders.

Das Schottisches Zweihand Breitschwert ist ein großes Schwert aus dem späten Mittelalter bis in die frühe Neuzeit. Es besitzt eine lange Klinge mit einer Gesamtlänge von ca. 1,5–2,0 Metern, die in der Regel in der Mitte oder am Griff ausbalanciert ist. Der Griff ist für zwei Hände ausgelegt und oft mit einem Holz- oder Eisenbeschlag versehen. Griffzwinge oder Kreuzschutz sorgen für Schutz der Hand. Die Klinge ist typischerweise flach, breit und schwer, geeignet sowohl zum Schneiden als auch zum Stoßen. Das Gewicht liegt je nach Exemplar grob zwischen 2–4 kg. Einsatzgebiet war die Infanterie und Marschformationen. In Duellen diente es als symbolische Waffe der Highlander.
