The battle axe, also known as the "war axe," was a popular weapon in the Middle Ages, particularly widespread in the 15th century. This weapon combined the properties of an axe with those of a cutting weapon and was used by both foot soldiers and cavalry.

The blade was often wide and sharp to cut through or penetrate armor. Some models had a pointed side that could be used for stabbing.
