Die 1963 entwickelte .300 Win Mag. geht auf die .338 Win Mag. zurück. Aus dieser wurde die neue Patronenhülse entwickelt, indem die Schulter um 4 mm nach vorne verlegt und der Hals um 3 mm verkürzt wurde. Die neue Patrone hatte einen Hülsenhals, der kürzer ist als der Geschossdurchmesser, was ihr ein kühnes und kraftvolles Aussehen verleiht. Heute ist die .300 Win Mag. für ihre extreme Vielseitigkeit bekannt und als solche ist sie eine großartige Patronenoption für Jäger, Schützen, Militär und Strafverfolgungsbehörden gleichermaßen. Gepaart mit den Spitzenkomponenten von Lapua wird sie sicherlich noch beliebter werden.
