Norwegian Performance Bullets Hunting Expandable-luodit on suunniteltu laajenemaan optimaalisesti osumanopeusalueella 700 – 850 m/s. Luodit toimivat erinomaisesti myös korkeammilla osumanopeuksilla, mutta silloin luodin aukeavat ”siivet” saattavat irrota luodin rungosta.
NPB-luodeissa on pitkä runko-osa, joka siipien mahdollisesti irrotessa jatkaa tunkeutumistaan kohteessa useimmiten läpäisten sen kokonaan. Sirpaloituvan luodin osumavaikutus on tehokas.
Monet haluavat, että metsästysluoti sienettyy osumasta ja pysyy ehyenä säilyttäen 95 -100 % painostaan. NPB HE –luodit käyttäytyvät näin, kunhan osumanopeus on valmistajan suosittelemalla alueella 700 – 850 m/s.
Suuremmilla osumanopeuksilla luodit toimivat sirpaloituvina ja alle 700 m/s osumanopeuksilla luodit eivät välttämättä avaudu maksimi läpimittaansa.
