Traditional ice boots keep you warm by burying your feet in bulk, and you feel every clunky step of it. The Deviation Thermo defies that trade-off: built to take on winter's worst with the warmth hardwater anglers demand and the mobility they refuse to give up. Easy to pull on, warm to -30F, and built to move from a static shelter setup to a morning of hole-hopping.
The warmth is engineered, not just piled on. 800g of zonally placed Thinsulate insulation surrounds the foot from the ankle down, putting heat exactly where you need it and eliminating bulk where you don't. A full 5mm neoprene lining runs throughout the boot for above-the-calf, 100% waterproof coverage. A removable EVA footbed adds the finishing layer, with a grid-fleece topsheet and heat-reflective Mylar flooring that traps and reflects warmth back at your feet. Together they deliver a comfort range down to -30F at a low-to-medium activity level.
Underfoot is built for frozen ground. A full-length molded EVA midsole delivers all-day comfort and support on unforgiving ice, and an aggressive, oversized lug compound with a walnut shell grip and outrigger wrap bites into ice, snow, and slush. Traction that holds its grip across varied winter terrain, where a smooth sole would put you on the ground.
The rubber chemistry is the difference you feel: a supple yet durable compound that stays forgiving in extreme cold instead of going stiff, with wrapped rubber coverage and reinforced heel and toe for added durability and kick protection. A hardwater boot that doesn't fish like a brick.
The details are built for cold hands and bulky gloves. Oversized, reinforced pull-on handles make the boot easy to get into with gloves on, an upgrade from the old cut-out style. A gusseted calf expands the fit to accommodate your layering system, with a one-hand adjustment strap to dial it in fast. From shelter to last light, the Deviation Thermo completes the cold-weather kit.
