Rewolwer tuż po swojej premierze w 1898 roku stał się hitem sprzedażowym dla wojska, policji jak i runku cywilnym, co potwierdza ogrom różnych wersji oraz kalibrów dostępnych aż do końca produkcji w 1946 roku gdzie łączna ilość wszystkich przekroczyła 337 tysięcy egzemplarzy.
Najrzadszą występującą wersją Colta New Service był w kalibrze 44-40 wyprodukowany w 1926 roku z 7,5 calową lufą fabrycznie bez gwintu, tak gładkolufowy 6ścio strzałowiec, których wyprodukowano zaledwie 5 sztuk.
Prezentowany egzemplarz niestety spełnia tylko połowę w/w kryteriów. Cal 44-40 i 7,5 calową lufę, za to gwintowaną i wyprodukowany wcześniej czyli w 1924 roku. Nie oznacza to jednak, że występuje on w przyrodzie często...
