Why does the Gunfinder crawler visit my website?

You found visits with the user agent Gunfinder/3.1 in your web server log files — probably with a link to this page? Quick reassurance: That was our crawler, and everything is fine.

What does the crawler do on your site?

Gunfinder is a product search engine for hunters and sport shooters. To help our users find current listings, our crawler regularly visits the websites and shops we have included as sources and collects products and prices there.

The crawler identifies itself in the User-Agent header as Gunfinder/3.1 and links to this article so you can immediately see who is visiting your site. Older versions were called Gunfinderbot — if you see this name in older logs, it’s the same crawler.

If your shop is listed with us as a source, the crawler will check in regularly to keep your listings up to date. So you’ll see it more often in your logs. It deliberately keeps a low profile and accesses pages at a moderate pace.

You should whitelist these IP networks

To ensure your products appear reliably and quickly on Gunfinder, add our networks as exceptions in your firewall, rate limiter, or bot detection:

• 213.95.112.96/27 (IPv4)
• 2001:780:274:1::/64 (IPv6)

Important: Some firewalls and hosting packages block any visitor with the word “bot” in the User-Agent by default. If in doubt, check whether your bot detection allows the User-Agent Gunfinder/3.1 and these two networks — otherwise your products won’t appear or will be delayed in our search.
