Modello 1915/17 usata in discrete condizioni nonostante l’età. Canna in buone condizioni, brunitura originale discreta anche se vissuta, guancette in noce con righe verticali e logo PB ormai consumato. Con scritte di primo tip e punzone PS (iniziali ispettore PS).
Storia:
La Beretta Modello 1917 è la diretta evoluzione della M15, nata durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale per soddisfare le pressanti richieste di armamenti del Regio Esercito Italiano. Sebbene derivi strettamente dal modello precedente, introduce miglioramenti che ne hanno raffinato l’ergonomia e la funzionalità.

Evoluzione del Design
La M17 nasce principalmente come versione aggiornata e standardizzata del modello 1915 in calibro 7,65mm Browning (.32 ACP). Le modifiche principali riguardano:
Impugnatura: È stata ridisegnata per essere più ergonomica e meno squadrata rispetto alla M15, facilitando la presa.
Meccanica: Venne semplificato il sistema di smontaggio e migliorata la fluidità del carrello.
Estetica: Mantiene l’iconico carrello aperto superiore (caratteristica di Tullio Marengoni), che riduceva il peso e facilitava l’espulsione dei bossoli, minimizzando i rischi di inceppamento.
Impiego Operativo
Nonostante fosse stata prodotta per le necessità belliche, la M17 divenne l’arma d’ordinanza preferita dai corpi di polizia e dagli ufficiali italiani per diversi decenni.
Portabilità: Rispetto alla variante in 9mm Glisenti, la M17 era più compatta e leggera, ideale per il porto continuativo.
Affidabilità: Era considerata un’arma estremamente robusta, capace di funzionare anche in condizioni ambientali difficili (fango, polvere delle trincee).

Il “Passaggio” verso la Modernità
La Beretta 1917 è considerata l’anello di congiunzione tra le prime pistole rudimentali del periodo pre-bellico e i modelli più aggraziati degli anni ’30. È proprio da questo design che si svilupperà la celebre Beretta M22 e, successivamente, la leggendaria M34, la pistola simbolo dell’esercito italiano nella Seconda Guerra Mondiale.
Curiosità: Molte Beretta M17 rimasero in servizio presso le forze dell’ordine italiane (come le Guardie di Pubblica Sicurezza) fino al secondo dopoguerra, a testimonianza della qualità costruttiva del progetto originale.
