Black Raptor Product Check · clean workbench
Bore Tech Patch Hog
Muzzle-end catch system for used patches and escaping cleaning fluid – so the dirt ends up in the bottle, not on the workbench.
What it solves When cleaning from the chamber to the muzzle, patches, fluid, and some of the spray mist are directed straight into a screwed-on plastic bottle.
What it is not Not a bore guide, not a cleaning rod, and not a complete set. It sits at the muzzle end and complements an existing cleaning chain.
Fit matters before buying
The thick, non-scratching rubber body is pushed over the free muzzle without screws or clamps. Bore Tech specifies barrels up to 2 inches diameter as well as open sights up to 1.25 inches front sight height and 0.25 inches front sight width. Muzzle brakes, adapters, thread protectors, or special barrel contours can still limit the actually usable mounting area.
Barrel diameter: up to 2 inches according to the manufacturer.
Sight clearance: front sight up to 1.25 inches high and 0.25 inches wide.
Bottle connection: large standard thread of many soft drink bottles; Bore Tech warns that many simple water bottles have different threads.
Scope of delivery: Patch Hog; bottle, patches, chemicals, and cleaning rod are needed separately.
Buy if … you regularly clean from the chamber towards the muzzle and want to collect patch/chemical runoff cleanly in a bottle.
Don’t buy if … a muzzle attachment blocks the fit, the documented size limits are exceeded, or you actually want a chamber-side cleaning rod guide.
How to use the Patch Hog sensibly
Safely unload the firearm, let it cool down, and rest it steadily.
Keep muzzle and rubber holder free of sand or hard particles.
Slide the Patch Hog on straight and without tension.
Screw on an empty, suitable bottle dry by hand first; never force a wrong thread.
Send a dry patch through the entire path. Only use cleaning chemicals once the setup is stable.
Unscrew the bottle upright after the cleaning process and treat the contents according to the chemicals used.
For chamber-side guidance, a suitable patch guide is the other tool class. The Patch Hog only takes over
the muzzle-side catch function. Cleaning rod, Jag or Loop, brush and cleaner remain separate.
Practical/Instructor tip: Assemble the entire catch path dry. A wrong bottle or a crooked fit should be noticeable before solvent is in the system. This turns an improvised detail into a reproducible workbench process.
External user experiences: On the manufacturer’s site, several buyers report positively about the cleaner workspace and the catching of used patches. These are individual customer reports, not an independent performance test.
FAQ
Is a plastic bottle included? No. A suitable bottle with a large standard thread is needed separately.
Does the Patch Hog fit every barrel? No. Bore Tech specifies up to 2 inch barrel diameter and certain limits for open sights; muzzle attachments and actual contour must also fit.
Does the Patch Hog replace a Bore Guide? No. A Bore Guide guides the cleaning rod on the chamber side. The Patch Hog sits at the muzzle and catches exiting material.
Which bottle fits? Many plastic bottles with the large standard thread of classic soft drink bottles fit. Bore Tech explicitly points out that not every water bottle has this thread.
Does the Patch Hog need to be clamped? No. The shaped rubber holder sits on the matching barrel without clamps, straps or screws.

Was die Konstruktion praktisch bewirkt

Black Raptor · kleines Werkzeug, klarer Zweck
