Die Deformation wird von der ausgeprägten Bleispitze eingeleitet und der Mantel passt sich dem Zielwiderstand an. Auf starkes Wild ist der Deformationsprozess nur begrenzt steuerbar, so dass nicht immer mit einem Ausschuss gerechnet werden kann.
Die .243 Win. ist eine sehr präzise Patrone, die sich gut als Rehwild- und Fuchspatrone eignet. Die .243 Win. bietet ein ausgewogenes Leistungsverhältnis bei der Jagd auf diese Wildarten.
