Anno 1965. Un’arma stupenda questo sovrapposto prodotto dalla Gebruder Merkel di Suhl. Condizioni splendide, canna perfetta e brunitura originale. Due chiavi penetrano verticalmente nella base, creando il caratteristico “diamante” che sporge nella parte inferiore dell’arma. In una dimostrazione di stravaganza teutonica, i tedeschi rinforzano queste chiusura tipo Greener (loro la chiamano Kersten) che perfora le “orecchie” di rinforzo che sporgono da entrambi i lati della canna superiore. Questo è forse il sistema di chiusura più potente mai inventato. I lati della base formano “guance” di rinforzo, aumentando lo spessore del metallo nei punti critici e i bordi sono arrotondati in modo che non si accumuli stress. Le canne sono unite con il tradizionale monoblocco. Per il meccanismo di scatto il 303 prende in prestito la soluzione “Holland & Holland”. Sono montati ai lati azionando i rispettivi percussori, tramite un monogrillo. Un’arma che viene realizzata solo su ordinazione con le caratteristiche dell’utente (la scelta del legno da utilizzare, il livello e il tipo di incisione, ecc.). Questo che presentiamo ha il calcio in radica di noce, a pistola e il poggiaguancia. La lunghezza standard della canna è di 71 cm. La “E” nel nome del modello indica la presenza di estrattori automatici, che vengono azionati da potenti molle.
