Objective protection with added benefit
When the optic comes out of the case, the front lens should be clean – and still deliver a steady image even with strong heat mirage.
The Vector Optics SCFC‑M56 screws into the M57.5×0.75 front thread. Closed, it protects the objective lens; fully opened, it frees the full 56 mm diameter; folded down, the integrated 40 mm aperture ring reduces disturbing light entry during strong mirage.
Check fit before purchase
Our honest assessment
The SCFC‑M56 is not a universal clamp cap for every scope with "56 mm" in the name. The crucial factor is the M57.5×0.75 mounting thread. Vector Optics explicitly names the Continental 5–30×56 FFP and 4–24×56 FFP; according to the manufacturer, it also fits other objectives with exactly this thread.
The 40 mm aperture ring is a real but situational added benefit: with strong heat mirage, less sideways light can improve visibility. At dusk, a smaller opening costs light – then the cap should be fully opened.
Fits well if … your objective has a confirmed M57.5×0.75 internal thread, you want a permanently mounted metal cap, and you want to use the 40 mm aperture for mirage.
Fits less if … you only know the lens diameter, your glass has no suitable front thread, or you want to use it with little ligh
ht ständig mit reduzierter Öffnung arbeiten möchtest.
What the features do in practice
Three defined positions Closed for transport and readiness, fully open for maximum light transmission, flip-down for the 40-mm aperture in strong heat shimmer.
Screwed mounting The cap stays on the scope and cannot disappear like a loose protective cap in the case. For this, the thread must really fit and be properly aligned.
6061-T6 aluminum More dimensionally stable than a soft rubber cap and designed for frequent opening. However, metal does not protect against rough mishandling or a hard impact on the hinge.
45 g product weight The additional weight remains manageable on the large 56-mm objective. The Shopify shipping weight of 65 g may include packaging and is therefore not equated with the net weight.
Mounting and user tips
1. First check the thread: "56-mm objective" describes the optics class, not automatically the connection thread. M57.5×0.75 must be confirmed.
2. Attach without force: Start the first threads by hand. Cross-threading or over-tightening can damage the fine thread on the cap or scope.
3. Determine flip direction before final tightening: This way the lid does not collide with barrel, sunshade, or controls and stays out of the field of view when flipped up.
4. Use the aperture consciously: Try the 40-mm aperture with mirage and compare the target image. At dusk or when maximum exit pupil is needed, open fully.
5. Confirm point of impact: After working on optics or accessories, a control group is part of a clean process—even if the cap itself does not replace mounting.
Suitable alternatives in the system
For a Continental objective with 50 mm, the SCFC-M50 is the right size variant. For the eyepiece side, the SCFC-M44 is intended. You can find more components at Vector Optics and in Mounts & Accessories for shooting sports.

Scope of delivery
1× Vector Optics SCFC-M56 metal flip-up cap for the objective side. An eyepiece cap or scope is not included in the confirmed scope of delivery of this single SKU item.
Care and limits
Blow off dust before opening or remove with a suitable optics brush. Keep threads and hinge dry and free of sand; do not use aggressive cleaners or excess oil on the lens. The closed cap protects against typical dirt and touch but does not make the scope additionally waterproof and does not replace a padded case.
For this simple mechanical accessory, no separate SCFC-M56 manual is listed by the manufacturer. The manufacturer's specifications for thread, three positions, and screwed mounting are authoritative.
FAQ
Does the cap fit every 56-mm scope? No. M57.5×0.75 is confirmed. A 56-mm objective without this thread is not automatically compatible.
What is the 40-mm aperture ring for? It limits light entry and can improve visibility in strong mirage or heat shimmer. With low light, you should open fully.
Can the SCFC-M56 be screwed onto a sunshade? A specialist dealer describes mounting directly on the scope or on an already
mounted sunshade. The prerequisite in both cases remains the exactly matching M57.5×0.75 internal thread.
Why does the datasheet say 45 g and the shop 65 g? 45 g is the confirmed net weight of the cap. 65 g is stored in the Shopify shipping field and may include packaging; due to lack of packaging proof, this value is not changed.
Is the cap silent? There is no reliable manufacturer guarantee for this. Before hunting or competition, you should check the opening direction, operating path, and noise on your own setup.
How do I prevent damage to the thread? Align straight, start exclusively by hand, and do not overtighten. If you feel resistance, immediately loosen and check the thread and dimensions again.
Black Raptor conclusion
A small part with a clear task: The SCFC-M56 protects the front lens, stays on the glass, and offers a useful option against strong heat shimmer with the 40 mm aperture. The decisive factor is not the inscription "56 mm," but the confirmed M57.5×0.75 thread.
We advise from the perspective of instructors and users for users – honest about fit, limits, and use. If you are unsure about the thread, check your exact scope model before ordering.

Grenzen, Nachteile & Fehlkauf vermeiden

Black Raptor · Schnittstelle zuerst
