40 years of GLOCK - Anniversary Glock P80 In the early 1980s, the Austrian Armed Forces announced its new service pistol "P80". The new pistol was to be lightweight, exhibit the highest reliability, and ensure safe and simple operation. In March 1982, the Austrian engineer and entrepreneur Gaston Glock submitted his prototype and was awarded the contract. He created the first weapon with a polymer frame, reducing the number of parts to 33. This significantly reduced the weight. Additionally, the polymer frame acts as a recoil absorber. And lastly, he also invented the "Safe Action System", which prevents a discharge even if dropped. Gaston Glock's stroke of genius was a sensation. Although the plastic manufacturer had never designed a pistol before, he was able to compete against all established handgun manufacturers...

40 Jahre GLOCK - Jubiläums Glock P80 Anfang der 1980er Jahre schrieb das österreichische Bundesheer seine neue Dienstpistole 'P80' aus. Die neue Pistole sollte wenig wiegen, höchste Zuverlässigkeit und sichere und einfache Bedienung aufweisen. Im März 1982 reichte der östereichische Ingenieur und Unternehmer Gaston Glock seinen Prototyp ein und erhielt den Zuschlag. Er schuf die erste Waffe mit Polymer-Griffstück, verringerte die Einzelteile auf 33. Er verringerte das Gewicht dadurch entscheidend. Zudem wirkt das Polymergriffstück als Rückstoßdämpfer. Und zu guter Letzt erfand er auch noch das 'Safe Action System', bei dem sich auch beim Herunterfallen kein Schuss löst. Gaston Glocks Geniestreich war eine Sensation Obwohl der Kunststofffabrikant zuvor noch nie eine Pistole entworfen hatte, konnte er sich gegen alle etablierten Handfeuerwaffenhersteller...
