Mannlicher SBS bolt (Safe Bolt System)
The SBS bolt, developed and patented by STEYR MANNLICHER, is the safest bolt design in the world. If a cartridge is fired with excessive pressure or there is an obstruction in the barrel, the user is protected from potential physical injury caused by escaping gas or mechanical failure.
Bolt features:
1 - Fluting for debris:
Special flutes in the bolt body ensure reliable locking, even in extreme icy or muddy conditions.
2 - Firing pin:
The rear of the firing pin protrudes from the back of the bolt when the rifle is cocked, allowing you to check the rifle’s status visually and by touch.
3 - Bolt lock:
The SBS locking lugs are exceptionally strong by design and lock directly behind the cartridge base against the receiver.
4 - Bolt handle:
The bolt handle folds down and locks against the receiver.
5 - Safety sleeve:
Only the SBS system uses an additional safety sleeve that fully encloses the locking lugs and extractor. This protects the user from escaping gas if a high-pressure cartridge is fired unknowingly.
Three-position safety.
(A) Safe position. The rifle can be loaded and unloaded, but the trigger remains locked.
(B) Fire position. Just before firing, turn the wheel forward to the fire position, marked with a red dot.
(C) Bolt-lock position. Lets you fold the bolt handle against the receiver and locks the firing pin. On rifles with a set trigger, it is automatically disengaged in this position.

Cerrojo Mannlicher SBS (Safe Bolt System)
