Howa 1500 Superlite – The lightest repeating rifle in its class
Are you looking for a lightweight rifle? Then you should definitely consider the Howa Superlite. Available in .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor, the Howa Superlite covers a variety of applications and is also extremely maneuverable with an overall length of 99 cm.
With its carbon stock, the Howa Superlite weighs an impressive 2,113 grams. We have weighed it all out, and the individual stock weighs an ultra-light 475 grams.
The Howa Superlite does not rely on a standard metal bottom metal, but instead uses a plastic one with a box magazine. The magazine in 6.5 Creedmoor caliber has a capacity of 3 cartridges in total. The follower of the magazine is also made of plastic. This naturally saves additional weight on the Howa Superlite, totaling 170 grams compared to the standard bottom metal.
To further reduce weight, the system is slightly slimmer and shorter compared to a normal short action system. This slim system also makes the bolt a bit slimmer.
The bolt lugs still have the same contact surface but have been shortened in length. The chamber rod of the Howa Superlite has been partially hollowed out, which saves a few more grams.
However, a solid contact surface of the system with an equally robust recoil lug has not been compromised. To tame the recoil due to the extremely low weight, Howa has equipped the Superlite with an ultra-soft Limbsaver butt pad.
The system is, of course, prepared for the mounting of Picatinny rails and similar accessories.
On the 20-inch approximately 51 cm (.308 and 6.5 CM) or 42 cm (only .308) long barrel with a contour of 15 mm at the muzzle, there is a 1/2"-28 muzzle thread for mounting a suppressor or brake. The muzzle crown is knurled.
Also included is a 3-position safety. In the rear position, the weapon is secured and the bolt is locked. In the middle position, the weapon is secured, but the bolt can be opened. In the front position, the weapon is ready to fire.
The trigger has a light take-up until a clear pressure point is reached, and then the shot breaks cleanly at about 1200 grams.
The Howa Superlite is an ultra-light repeating rifle that really shows its advantages when stalking or in the mountains. The precision of Howa rifles is extremely satisfactory, and the trigger works very well.
In terms of lightness, we currently know of no repeating rifle that comes close to the approximately 2.1 kg of the Howa Superlite. Despite its light weight, the weapon shoots comfortably due to the extremely soft butt pad. The muzzle thread can further mitigate this with a suppressor. The chamber lock is also advantageous when stalking, as it prevents the bolt from accidentally opening.

Sie suchen eine leichte Büchse? Dann sollten Sie in jeden Fall die Howa Superlite in Betracht ziehen. Erhältlich im Kaliber .308 Winchester oder 6,5 Creedmoor deckt die Howa Superlite etliche Einsatzgebiete ab und ist zudem mit einer Gesamtlänge von 99 cm äußerst führig.
Mit Ihrem Carbonschaft kommt die Howa Superlite auf ein Gesamtgewicht von sage und schreibe 2.113 Gramm. Wir haben das ganze ausgeschäftet und der einzelne Schaft wiegt ultraleichte 475 Gramm.
Die Howa Superlite greift nicht wie üblich auf ein Bottom Metal aus Metall zurück, sondern nutzt eines aus Kunststoff mit Kastenmagazin. Das Magazin im Kaliber 6,5 Creedmoor hat eine Kapazität von insgesamt 3 Patronen. Auch der Zubringer des Magazins ist aus Kunststoff gefertigt. Hierdurch wird bei der Howa Superlite natürlich nochmals Gewicht eingespart. Insgesamt 170 Gramm gegenüber dem standard Bottom Metal.
Zur weiteren Gewichtsersparnis ist das System ein wenig schlanker und verkürzt im Vergleich zu einem normalen Short Action System. Durch das schlanke System wird natürlich auch der Verschluss ein wenig schlanker.
Die Verschlusswarzen haben immer noch dieselbe Anlagefläche wurden aber in der Länge verkürzt. Der Kammerstengel der Howa Superlite wurde ein Stück weit hohl gebohrt, was auch nochmal ein paar Gramm einspart.
Auf eine satte Auflagefläche des Systems mit ebensolchem Rückstoßstollen wurde jedoch nicht verzichtet. Um den Rückstoß aufgrund des extrem geringen Gewichtes ein wenig zu zähmen, spendierte Howa der Superlite eine ultra weiche Limbsaver Schaftkappe.
Das System ist natürlich vorbereitet für die Montage von Picatinny Schienen und dergleichen.
An dem 20 Zoll ca. 51 cm (.308 und 6,5 CM) oder 42cm (nur .308) langen Lauf mit einer Kontur von 15 mm an der Mündung sitzt ein 1/2"-28 Mündungsgewinde zur Montage eines Schalldämpfers oder einer Bremse. Die Mündungsbuchse ist gerändelt.
Ebenfalls an Bord eine 3 Stellungssicherung. In der hinteren Position ist die Waffe gesichert und der Verschluss gesperrt. In der mittleren ist die Waffe gesichert, aber der Verschluss kann geöffnet werden. In der vorderen Position ist die Waffe feuerbereit.
Der Abzug hat einen leichten Vorzug bis ein klarer Druckpunkt erreicht wird und dann der Schuss klar bei etwa 1200 Gramm bricht.
Die Howa Superlite ist eine ultraleichte Repetierbüchse, welche gerade auf der Pirsch oder am Berg Ihre Vorteile ausspielt. Die Präzision der Howa Büchsen ist überaus zufriedenstellend und auch mit dem Abzug lässt sich sehr gut arbeiten.
In Sachen Leichtigkeit ist uns derzeit keine Repetierbüchse bekannt, die an die rund 2,1 Kg der Howa Superlite heranreicht. Trotz ihres leichten Gewichtes schießt sich die Waffe angenehm durch die extrem weiche Schaftkappe. Anhand des Mündungsgewindes kann dem durch einen Schalldämpfer noch weiter entgegengewirkt werden. Auch die Kammersperre ist gerade auf der Pirsch von Vorteil, da sich hierdurch der Verschluss nicht ungewollt öffnen kann.
