SIG 510-4 AMT cal. .308 Winchester – Rara carabina semiautomatica svizzera
Il SIG 510-4 AMT è una delle più interessanti e ricercate carabine semiautomatiche della storica produzione SIG svizzera. Derivato dalla famiglia SIG 510 e strettamente legato allo Sturmgewehr 57, l’AMT – acronimo di American Match Target – venne sviluppato come versione semiautomatica destinata al mercato civile e all’esportazione.
Camerato in calibro .308 Winchester / 7,62×51, il 510 mantiene l’inconfondibile impostazione meccanica della famiglia 510, distinguendosi però per la configurazione semiautomatica e per le caratteristiche dedicate al mercato civile. Tra gli elementi più riconoscibili troviamo la particolare struttura dell’arma, la calciatura e l’astina in legno e il caratteristico sistema di mira a diottra.
Particolarmente interessante è la relativa rarità di questa versione. Cataloghi d’asta svizzeri specializzati riportano infatti una produzione complessiva di 1.440 esemplari destinati al mercato civile tra il 1969 e il 1978, caratteristica che contribuisce notevolmente al suo interesse storico e collezionistico.
Il progetto deriva dalla celebre piattaforma SIG 510, sviluppata in Svizzera negli anni Cinquanta. La variante 510-4 adottava il calibro 7,62×51 NATO e venne realizzata anche per l’esportazione, mentre dall’impostazione del 510-4 nacque successivamente la variante civile AMT.
Oggi il SIG 510-4 AMT rappresenta una proposta di grande interesse per il collezionista di armi svizzere e per l’appassionato delle produzioni SIG storiche. La particolare origine, la costruzione svizzera, il calibro .308 e soprattutto il numero relativamente contenuto di esemplari civili prodotti rendono l’AMT decisamente meno comune rispetto a molte altre carabine semiautomatiche della stessa epoca.
Un’arma dal forte interesse storico, tecnico e collezionistico, appartenente a una delle famiglie più rappresentative della produzione armiera svizzera del secondo dopoguerra.
