Revolver usato in perfette condizioni, come nuovo nonostante l’età. Guancette originali in legno, tamburo counterbored, canna e cane spinati, cane e grilletto tartarugati. Completo di valigetta. Raro pezzo da collezione.

Il modello Smith & Wesson (S&W) 28 , noto anche come Highway Patrolman , è un revolver con telaio N camerato per la cartuccia .357 Magnum , in produzione dal 1954 al 1986. Si tratta di una versione sabbiata con finitura opaca di alta qualità del modello S&W 27 .
Sviluppo
Il modello 28, noto anche come Highway Patrolman dal 1954 al 1956, trae le sue origini dalla Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum. La Registered Magnum fu ribattezzata .357 Magnum (il primo modello di produzione fu completato l’8 aprile 1935). [ 3 ] La produzione della .357 Magnum fu temporaneamente interrotta nel dicembre 1941 quando la S&W si concentrò sulla produzione bellica, ma fu reintrodotta nel dicembre 1948 con la nuova serie che iniziò con il numero di serie S72000 e incorporò un blocco del cane interno per prevenire lo sparo accidentale in caso di caduta. [ 4 ]
Le forze dell’ordine richiedevano la potenza del modello 27 calibro .357 Magnum, ma la sua finitura lucida e la laboriosa zigrinatura del cinturino superiore aumentavano i costi, senza aggiungere alcuna utilità per l’uso come arma da fuoco di servizio. Inoltre, la finitura lucida del 27 era soggetta a impronte digitali e altre macchie di manipolazione, facilmente visibili.
Alla fine, i dipartimenti e il pubblico in generale richiesero una versione più economica del modello 27 e S&W rispose con lo sviluppo dell’Highway Patrolman (poi ribattezzato Modello 28 nel 1957). Le modifiche produttive resero il revolver più accessibile, poiché il modello 28 non era un’arma da fuoco con finitura super lucida. Invece, il 28 era semi-lucidato, con la parte superiore della cinghia e la guardia del grilletto sabbiate (non zigrinate), il che ridusse i costi di produzione. Il 28 è meccanicamente identico e robusto al modello 27 e sono stati utilizzati gli stessi materiali di alta qualità. La scritta “Highway Patrolman” è incisa sulla canna in fabbrica, così come la sigla “.357 CTG”. Sebbene la parte superiore della cinghia e i colpi del fusto del modello 28 siano sabbiati per ottenere un aspetto opaco, le superfici non sabbiate presentano una certa lucentezza.
