.br-product summary{font-weight:600;cursor:pointer;}
A chassis swap only becomes better than an optical upgrade when system length, magazine path, and stock length are considered together. For a Remington 700, "Short Action" is not the shorthand for every 700: it also determines, along with the choice between fixed and folding stock, the appropriate inlet.
The Whiskey-3 of Generation 6 is made precisely for this deliberate configuration. The versions bundled here combine a Remington 700 receiver with AICS magazine logic and adjustable ergonomics – not as a universal stock, but as a platform for a well-planned precision build.
Documented selection for Remington 700 Short Action or Long Action
Fixed and folding stocks are treated as different versions
AICS magazine format without additional bottom metal; one magazine is not included
Tool-free adjustments to stock length, cheek rest, and buttstock cap according to Gen-6 instructions
Expandable, but only with accessories that fit the existing fore-end and generation interface
A chassis for a defined Remington 700 configuration
The Whiskey-3 is neither a complete rifle nor a replacement stock where the designation "Remington 700" alone is sufficient as a purchase criterion. It accepts the appropriate bolt-action system body and replaces the previous stock and magazine guidance with the KRG chassis architecture. The practical benefit only arises when the system footprint, action length, and desired magazine path are determined beforehand.
For the build, this means: first determine the exact Remington 700 version, then choose the stock type, and only then plan bipod, ARCA, or sling solutions. This prevents the typical mispurchase where an accessory fits the brand but not the existing fore-end or chosen generation.
Generation boundary:
This product page bundles documented Gen-6 versions; information about the later Gen-7 version does not automatically apply here.
First the variant, then the build
The page bundles nine documented Gen-6 versions. For Short Action, fixed stocks are available in Black, FDE, and Sako Green, as well as a folding Sako Green version. For Long Action, there are fixed stocks in Black, FDE, and Sako Green, as well as folding versions in Black and Sako Green. Color is thus only the last selection criterion.
For the actual order, the chosen version must explicitly match your own action length. A Long Action chassis is not a spare for a Short Action and vice versa. Likewise, the folding stock is its own configuration, not just a detail of the fixed version. If the variant selection in the shop does not clearly indicate the action length or stock type, verify the order confirmation with the actual system version before purchase.
What changes in the real build
KRG offers the Whiskey-3 Gen 6 with AICS magazine logic. This is relevant for a Remington 700 conversion because magazine, magazine well, and existing box magazine parts cannot be reused in parallel. The Gen-6 instructions require for Remington
700, to remove the existing box magazine parts before installation. The magazine itself is not included in the delivery.
The adjustments to the stock are not an end in themselves. The tool-free length adjustment, the height-adjustable cheek rest, and the height and cant adjustable buttplate only help if the optic is already in its planned position. If you first adjust the cheek rest and then the mounting height or eye relief, you set the same geometry twice and lose the advantage of the reproducible starting position.
For whom it fits – and for whom not
This system is suitable for shooters who want to build a Remington 700 precision rifle with AICS magazine format and actually want to adjust the ergonomics. This applies to a focused range or long-range build as well as to the user who knows exactly before installation whether a fixed or folding buttstock makes more sense.
It is not suitable for a purchase based on photo, color, or mere model family. Anyone looking for a lightweight, non-modular standard stock concept or who cannot verify the existing action length should not guess here. The greatest benefit of the Whiskey-3 is the defined interface; without this foundation, modularity only creates additional clarification effort.
Technical Data
Generation: Whiskey-3 Gen 6.
Platform: Remington 700 Short Action or Long Action – exclusively according to the chosen version.
Stock version: fixed or folding, also variant-dependent.
Magazine format: AICS style; the Gen-6 manual mentions 5- or 10-round magazines. For Long Action, a 3.850-inch AICS magazine is intended.
Weight of the FDE Short Action Fixed version: 3.8 lb according to the associated datasheet; this value does not automatically apply to the other variants.
Installation torque according to KRG manual: tighten both system screws gradually to 65 in-lb.
Scope of Delivery
Confirmed for the Gen-6 Whiskey-3 package are the mounted chassis, a rear system screw – depending on the version M6 x 45 or 1/4-28 x 1 3/4 – with washer, as well as a KRG L2 Rail Kit with metric mounting hardware. An AICS magazine is not included.
The scope of delivery does not replace the appropriate Remington 700 action unit nor professional installation. Accessories shown in pictures or linked recommendations are only included if explicitly stated above as part of the package.
Instructor and Practical Tips
Instructor Tip: Mechanics before Ergonomics
First check action length, stock shape, and AICS magazine fit. Only when the system is mechanically correctly assigned do you adjust cheek rest, stock length, and buttplate to your position. This way, a comfortable setting does not distract from a wrong basic variant.
Practical Tip: Test the magazine fit empty
After installation, with the unloaded weapon, insert and remove the magazine and check the bolt travel. KRG points out not to rest the rifle on the magazine when shooting. If the fit needs correction, the manual describes a slight forward/backward positioning of the forend instead of improvised changes to the magazine.
Practical Tip: Do not tighten system screws unevenly
When installing, set the system against the recoil lug and tighten both screws alternately. The KRG specification of 65 in-lb is an assembly value from the manual; without suitable tools or secure knowledge of the installation, this work belongs in expert hands.
Practical Tip: Check forend before spigot
The KRG spigot mount for Whiskey-3 Gen 3 to 6 does not fit together with an Enclosed Forend. Therefore, the actually mounted front-end version is decisive, not just the name Whiskey-3 on the buttstock.
Matching Products in the System
KRG WHISKEY-3 GEN 3+, X-RAY, BRAVO ARCA SWISS Spigot Mount – for a Gen-6 Whiskey-3 with matching standard forend,
not with Enclosed Forend.
KRG BRAVO Chassis for Remington 700 SA – an alternative if you are explicitly building a Remington 700 Short Action and want to compare a different KRG chassis concept.
KRG X-Ray Chassis for Remington 700 SA – also only as an alternative for the clearly confirmed Short Action platform.
Our assessment
The strongest reason to buy is not the number of possible attachments, but the combination of defined Remington 700 interface, AICS magazine path, and adjustable rear stock. This combination supports a repeatable precision build but requires a clear prior decision. Especially with this variant, it is more honest to stop an order than to try to make a Long Action, a wrong stock type, or incompatible front-end accessories fit afterward.
Black-Raptor short summary:
Buy if: your Remington 700 is clearly defined as Short or Long Action, the desired fixed or folding stock is determined, and you plan an AICS-based precision setup.
Don’t buy if: action length, magazine format, or front-end design are only assumed or you are looking for a straightforward standard stock concept without installation planning.
FAQ
Is this a complete rifle? No. It is a chassis for the matching Remington 700 system unit. The Gen-6 package does not include an AICS magazine.
Does every Remington 700 fit? No. The offered versions separate Short Action and Long Action. This assignment must match your own firearm; the model family alone is not enough.
What magazine format is used? The Whiskey-3 Gen 6 works with AICS-style magazines. For Long Action, the technical source specifies the 3.850-inch version.
What must be considered before installation? Unload the firearm, remove bolt and magazine, and remove any existing box magazine parts on a Remington 700. Then only install according to the KRG installation instructions.
Can I adjust the fit at the shooter? Yes. The Gen-6 manual describes tool-free adjustments to stock length, cheek rest, as well as stock cap height and cant. These adjustments follow after the correct mechanical assignment.
Is the spigot mount always compatible? No. KRG offers the spigot mount for Whiskey-3 Gen 3 to 6 but excludes an Enclosed Forend. Therefore, check the front-end design before buying accessories.

Praxis-Tipp: Den Magazinweg leer testen
