Prisma · 3x or 5x · AR-BDC4
Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II: fixed magnification instead of LPVO compromise The Spitfire HD Gen II is designed for users who want a compact etched reticle with fixed magnification. The choice between SPR-300 with 3x and SPR-500 with 5x mainly affects field of view, target identification, and speed.
Important: The AR-BDC4 is the reticle. The 1-MOA click adjustment is the turret mechanism. Both must not be confused with each other.
Which variant fits?
3x · SPR-300 The more versatile choice for short to medium distances. Larger field of view, more compact design, and slightly less weight make target transitions and changing positions easier.
5x · SPR-500 More target identification at medium distances, but narrower field of view and more demanding shooting position. Additionally, the 5x version has the intended platform for a compatible Micro Red Dot.
Fits well if … … you deliberately want fixed 3x or 5x magnification, prefer an etched reticle, and want a more compact setup than with a large LPVO.
… you want the reticle to remain visible even without illumination turned on.
Fits less if … … you need true 1x close-range speed or variable magnification.
… you expect a precise long-range scope with fine turret adjustment and freely selectable magnification.
Features and practical effect
Etched AR-BDC4 The reticle remains visible without battery. The BDC markings are a ballistic reference for typical .223/5.56 setups; they must be adjusted with your own ammunition, barrel u
and zeroing can be checked.
Lighting 12 brightness levels including two night vision compatible levels support different lighting conditions. The lighting complements the etched reticle, it does not replace it.
Multi-height mount Lower 1/3 and low mount allow adjustment to platform and head position. Check eye relief and cheek weld dry before use.
Fixed magnification With a 3x or 5x prism, there is no FFP/SFP variant choice like with a variable scope. Decisive factors here are magnification, field of view, eye relief, and reticle.
Limits, disadvantages, and avoiding bad purchases
3x is not 1x: At very close range, a true red dot is faster and more forgiving with head position.
5x is not automatically better: More magnification costs field of view. Those who switch a lot between targets may be better served with 3x.
BDC is not individual ballistics: Holdover points must be confirmed with your own load. The 1-MOA click adjustment says nothing about the scaling of the AR-BDC4 reticle.
Technical data with practical interpretation
3x · Field of view Approx. 12.6 m at 100 m. This facilitates overview and target switching.
5x · Field of view Approx. 7.8 m at 100 m. Larger target image in the glass, but less surroundings.
Eye relief About 6.7 cm at 3x and 6.8 cm at 5x. A reproducible head position remains important.
Click value 1 MOA per click. This corresponds to about 2.9 cm at 100 m and is rather coarse than fine mechanical.
3x · Size/weight Approx. 7.6 cm and 255 g. The more compact, lighter of the two variants.
5x · Size/weight Approx. 9.2 cm and 292 g. Slightly larger and heavier, but with additional magnification.
Scope of delivery Depending on the chosen variant: Spitfire HD Gen II 3x or 5x, rubber lens covers, CR2032 battery, Torx T10 multitool, lower 1/3 co-witness mount, low mount, and lens cleaning cloth.
Safe use Tighten mounting screws according to manufacturer specifications and check fit before shooting. Do not adopt BDC holdover points without verification. When zeroing, ensure safe weapon handling, suitable shooting range, and a stable rest.
FAQ Which variant is more universal? For many carbine and range setups, 3x is more universal because the field of view is larger. 5x is worthwhile if target identification at medium distances is clearly more important. Does the reticle work without a battery? Yes. The AR-BDC4 is etched and remains visible; the battery only powers the illumination. Is the 1-MOA click adjustment a MOA reticle scale? No. Click value and reticle are separate features. The product uses the AR-BDC4 reticle. Can a micro red dot be mounted on the 5x version? The 5x version has a designated platform for this. Compatibility of the specific red dot must be checked before purchase.
Black Raptor · Variant choice instead of data sheet 3x is the more agile all-round solution, 5x the more distance-oriented variant. Those who consciously choose fixed magnification and confirm the BDC markings with their own setup get a compact prism system without the size and handling effort of an LPVO.

Geätztes AR-BDC4 Das Absehen bleibt ohne Batterie sichtbar.
Beleuchtung 12 Helligkeitsstufen inklusive zwei nachtsichtkompatiblen Stufen unterstützen unterschiedliche Lichtlagen.
Black Raptor · Variantenwahl statt Datenblatt
