1–4x24 · SFP · Dead-Hold 2A BDC MOA
Vortex Crossfire HD 1–4x24: compact LPVO middle ground instead of "maximum magnification"
The Crossfire HD 1–4x24 is aimed at setups where 1x proximity and some magnification reserve are more important than maximum range. 30mm tube, illuminated Dead-Hold 2A BDC MOA reticle, and 1/2 MOA clicks make it technically clearer than the old "small scope" classification.

Black-Raptor quick check

Strongest point
1–4x keeps the system compact: faster overview below, more target information above – without the bulk of a large long-range scope.

1x is not a Red Dot
Even at 1x, an LPVO is bound to eye distance and eyebox. If you want absolute freedom of head position, a Red Dot is better suited.

Main limitation
4x is deliberately limited. For regular small targets at longer distances or intensive target engagement, 1–6x, 1–8x, or a classic scope makes more sense.

BDC risk
The SFP reticle must be confirmed with real ammunition and the intended reference magnification. BDC does not mean "automatically fitting."

Why 1–4x can still make sense today
More maximum magnification sounds attractive but usually also means more size, weight, and higher demands on the eyebox. A 1–4x remains interesting when short to medium distances dominate and magnification is more for additional target information than the main purpose.

Practical tip: Don’t set the eye distance at 1x. Use 4x, because the eyebox is more critical there, find the natural head position, and then check 1x. This significantly reduces later searching movements.

Buy if – or better not?

Buy if …

You’re looking for a compact LPVO for short to medium distances.
4x as top magnification is really enough.
30 mm mount and eye relief are carefully planned.
You want more target info than with a red dot.

Don’t buy if …

You want true head position freedom of a red dot.
You regularly need more than 4x.
maximum low-light performance is a priority.
You want to use BDC hold points without your own verification.

Crossfire 1–4x vs Venom 1–6x and Red Dot
The Venom 1–6x24 bundle offers more magnification reserve and already includes a cantilever mount. A red dot remains lighter and more tolerant of head position. The Crossfire 1–4x is the deliberately simple middle ground when 4x is enough and a slim LPVO concept is preferred.

Risk of wrong purchase: The 30 mm tube diameter says nothing about whether an existing mount offers the right height and offset. Ring diameter alone is not enough for compatibility check.

Requires a suitable 30 mm mount. Check height, offset, rail surface and required eye relief before purchase.

FAQ
Is 1x on the Crossfire like a red dot? No. The image is quickly usable at 1x, but the LPVO still has an eyebox and defined eye relief. A red dot is more tolerant of head position. How fine is a 1/2 MOA click at 100 m? About 14.5 mm point of impact shift per click. What mount is needed? A suitable 30 mm mount. Additionally, height, rail position and eye relief must fit the specific setup. Do the BDC marks apply equally at every magnification? No. The reticle is in the second focal plane, so its angular relation to the target changes when zooming. When is 1–6x more useful? When more target info is regularly needed at medium distances and a bit more size or weight is acceptable.

SFP Dead-Hold 2A BDC Das Absehen bleibt optisch gleich groß.
