An LPVO is strong as long as you use the right magnification range at the right moment. But this is often where the break happens in practice: The scope is still set to 6x from the last target, suddenly the short distance appears – and reaching for the magnification ring costs time. The Vortex Venom 1–6x24 Red Dot 3 MOA Bundle solves this problem not with theory, but with a second aiming system directly at 12 o’clock.
The bundle combines a Vortex Venom 1–6x24 LPVO with a piggyback-mounted Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot. The scope handles controlled work at short to medium distances. The red dot sits on top of the tube and is intended for quick close-range acquisition. Two optics, two independent zero points, one coordinated setup.
For modern long guns, AR-/PCC setups, and dynamic range applications, this makes a lot of sense. It can also be interesting for hunting if you assess it realistically: stalking, territory work, or stand hunting at short distances work very well with 1–6x. Around 50 to 80 m the scope is strong. Hand-sized targets up to about 100 to 120 m are realistically trainable depending on weapon, ammunition, light, shooting position, and shooter. Beyond that, 6x becomes increasingly demanding.
Key Features
Dual-optic bundle: LPVO and Enclosed Micro Red Dot as a coordinated complete setup.
Two independent zero points: Red Dot for close range, LPVO for controlled short to medium distance.
12 o’clock red dot mount: centered on the scope tube, no side offset and no additional rail.
1–6x magnification: quick at 1x, significantly more controlled at 4x to 6x.
AR-BDC3 MOA reticle: glass-etched, illuminated, and designed for quick hold points in the matching setup.
Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot: enclosed design with 3-MOA dot for fast target acquisition.
Motion Activation: dot activates according to the manufacturer when moving and automatically switches off after a rest phase.
Sport Cantilever Mount: places the LPVO in a practical position on flat-top platforms.
Picatinny / MIL-STD-1913: for compatible rails on modern long gun platforms.
Pre-assembled system: all components are prepared as a bundle; zeroing and checking are still mandatory.
Our Assessment
The Vortex Venom 1–6x24 Red Dot 3 MOA Bundle is much more than a normal LPVO with an additional optic. It is a complete concept for users who want to clearly separate short and medium distances. The red dot on top is not decoration but has a clear task: close range, quick target acquisition, both eyes open, no searching for the right magnification.
The LPVO remains responsible for what it is really strong at: controlled work at short to medium distances. At 1x you can work quickly and openly. At 4x to 6x you get more target control, more precise hold points, and a steadier image for medium distances. Especially on the range or in dynamic exercises, this task distribution is very sensible.
For hunting, the bundle is interesting if you are not looking for a classic stand hunting scope for long distances. F
For stalking, patrols, short trails, or close-range stand hunting situations, a 1–6x setup can be very practical. The Red Dot on top is less for classic stand hunting and more for quick close-range acquisition or very short situations where the LPVO is not set appropriately.
Important is the honest limit: This bundle does not replace a 3–15x, 4–16x, or 5–25x scope if you regularly shoot at longer distances or want stronger magnification. The AR-BDC3 reticle is also not an automatic hit solution. The hold points must be practically tested with your weapon, ammunition, and zeroing distance.
Black-Raptor short summary: The Vortex Venom 1–6x24 Red Dot 3 MOA Bundle is a strong complete solution for modern long gun setups when short and medium distances need to be clearly separated. LPVO for control, Red Dot for speed – that’s exactly what makes it appealing.
Buy if: You want a pre-mounted dual-optic setup for range, AR/PCC platforms, dynamic long guns, or hunting short distances.
Don’t buy if: You need a classic hunting scope for long distances, maximum low-light performance, an ultra-light setup, or a true long-range scope.
Important classification before purchase
The bundle is pre-mounted but not automatically tuned to your weapon. After mounting on the Picatinny rail, eye relief, cheek weld, fit, torque, LPVO zero, and Red Dot zero must be checked. Two optics also mean two zeroing processes.
Range / sport: very strong for changing distances, quick target transitions, and controlled medium distances.
AR / PCC / semi-auto: especially suitable for flat-top platforms with Picatinny rail.
LPVO use: ideal if you want to work quickly at 1x and have more control at 6x.
12 o’clock Red Dot: useful for short distances, quick target acquisition, and situations where the LPVO is not set properly.
Hunting / stalking: interesting at manageable distances, especially close range and short shooting distances.
Stand hunting up to approx. 70 m: realistically very usable if light, cheek weld, and sight picture fit.
Up to about 100 to 120 m: hand-sized targets are trainable depending on setup but not as relaxed as with stronger magnification.
Beyond that: increasingly sporty; for regular longer distances, more magnification is usually more sensible.
Instructor tip: Two optics, two clear tasks
Don’t zero the LPVO and Red Dot the same just because they are on the same weapon. Consciously decide which optic covers which distance. For example, Red Dot for short distances and quick target acquisition, LPVO for controlled work from medium distance. Train switching by head position and cheek weld – don’t only decide at the range which optic is “meant” at the moment.
Classification against typical alternatives:
Compared to a simple 1–6x LPVO, this bundle offers a real speed advantage at close range because the Red Dot can be used independently of the magnification ring. Compared to a pure Red Dot setup, the LPVO provides more control at medium distance. Compared to a 3–15x scope, the bundle remains faster and closer to close range but loses significantly in precision reserve for longer distances.
Application scenarios
At the range, the bundle makes particular sense when targets are at different distances and quick switching is needed. Instead of constantly turning between 1x and 6x, you can solve short distances with the Red Dot and keep the LPVO set for controlled work.
Sport-wise, the setup is strong for modern long guns with Picatinny flat-top rails. This applies especially to AR-like platforms, PCCs, and semi-autos where speed, cheek weld, overview, and medium distance come together.
Hunting-wise, we see the bundle more as a special solution for short to
medium distances. Stalking, territory work, sitting at short range or narrow trails can fit well. Those who regularly hunt far out in the field or rely heavily on twilight performance usually do better with a classic hunting scope.
Features & Construction
The LPVO sits in a Sport Cantilever Mount with a 30 mm tube and about 38.1 mm center height. This design makes sense on flat-top platforms because the scope is positioned further forward and the eye relief better matches the typical shooting position.
The Venom Enclosed Micro Red Dot sits on a Sport 12 O'Clock Mount directly on the 30 mm tube. This keeps the setup centered. Compared to a side offset, the weapon remains slimmer laterally, but switching occurs through a changed head position upwards.
The enclosed red dot design is practical because the emitter is better protected from dirt, moisture, and deposits than with open designs. The 3 MOA dot is a good compromise: large enough for quick acquisition, small enough for controlled short distances.
The AR-BDC3 MOA reticle in the LPVO is glass-etched and illuminated. Glass-etched means the reticle structure remains visible even without illumination. The illumination helps with faster acquisition but does not replace proper zeroing and verification of the BDC hold points.

FAQ
What is the advantage compared to a normal 1–6x LPVO?
The additional red dot covers short distances without having to first turn the magnification ring to 1x. The LPVO can remain set for medium distance, while the red dot allows quick target acquisition at close range.
Is the bundle useful for hunting?
Yes, but with realistic expectations. It can be very interesting for stalking, territory work, or short-range stand hunting. For long-range stand distances, maximum twilight performance, or classic hunting reticles, there are more suitable solutions.
What distance is realistic with the 1–6x optic?
The setup is very strong in the short to medium range. Around 50 to 80 m it is very well usable for hunting and sport. Hand-sized targets up to about 100 to 120 m are realistically trainable depending on firearm, ammunition, light, and shooter. Beyond that, 6x becomes increasingly challenging.
Do I have to zero the LPVO and red dot separately?
Yes. Both optics have separate zero points and should be deliberately adjusted for their respective tasks. For example, the red dot can be zeroed for short distance, while the LPVO is zeroed at another sensible distance.
Does the AR-BDC3 reticle automatically fit my firearm?
No. BDC markings are references, not guarantees. They must be practically verified with your firearm, ammunition, and zeroing distance. Only then will you know which hold points really fit.

LPVO · 12-Uhr-Red-Dot · Dual-Optik
Was die Komponenten praktisch verändern
LPVO Venom 1–6×24, AR-BDC3 MOA, zweite Bildebene.
