Gun Care · Chamber · Finish
Bore Tech Chamber Mop: Choose Small, Medium or Large by cartridge – not by feel The Proof-Positive Chamber Mop absorbs cleaner, loose residue and moisture in the chamber. It does not replace a brush: The mop is the absorption and drying step in the cleaning process.
Our assessment
The practical advantage lies in the controlled finish. A clean, dry mop better shows if there is still liquid and residue in the chamber. Twisting the same already saturated mop repeatedly tends to redistribute material rather than accurately assess cleanliness.
Works well if … … you want to wipe out and dry the chamber after brushing or cleaning.
… you can determine the right size class based on the Bore-Tech cartridge assignment and have a rod with a female 8/32 fitting.
Not suitable if … … you want to mechanically remove stuck deposits; for that, you need a suitable brush.
… you are looking for a barrel mop, a complete set, or an untested universal size.
Choosing the right size
Small For .22 Hornet, .22 PPC, .221, .222, .223 and 6 mm PPC according to the existing Bore-Tech data set.
Medium For .22-250, .243/6 mm, .260 Rem, .270, 6.5 Creedmoor, .280, 7mm-08 as well as .30-06/.308.
Large For 7 mm Mag, .300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua Mag and according to Bore Tech the magnum class.
Cartridge not listed? Don’t guess by bullet caliber. The existing manufacturer note bases the assignment on the closest case diameter; clarify if unsure before ordering.
Limits, disadvantages and avoiding bad purchases
Small/Medium/Large are functional sizes, not comfort
caliber selection. An oversized mop won’t fit properly with pressure.
No cleaning rod included: The mop has a male 8/32 thread and requires a matching female mount.
One mop can’t control two steps poorly at the same time: For a clean wet/dry process, a second dry mop is useful.
Technical data with practical interpretation
Material
Densely packed 100% cotton according to the available manufacturer data. Designed to absorb liquid and loose residues.
Thread
Male 8/32. Check the rod side before purchase.
Length
Approx. 2.6 inches. Compact for local work in the chamber.
Proof-positive construction
Core and thread are not made of brass according to the data sheet. This reduces tool-related color reactions with copper-dissolving chemicals.
Function
Absorbing and drying instead of brushing. Use a different tool for stubborn deposits.
Variants
Small, Medium, and Large. Selection according to cartridge geometry or manufacturer assignment.
Scope of delivery
1 × Bore Tech chamber mop in the chosen size. Cleaning rod, cleaner, brush, and a second dry mop are not included.
Safe use
Apply straight and without force
Only work on a safely unloaded and prepared firearm according to manufacturer instructions. Stop if unusual resistance occurs and check size selection.
Use cleaner sparingly
Do not use the mop dripping wet. Observe safety, ventilation, and exposure instructions of the chemicals used.
FAQ
Which size fits .223?
The available Bore-Tech data assigns .223 to size Small.
Which size fits .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor?
Both are listed under Medium in the available assignment.
When do I need Large?
Large is designated, among others, for 7 mm Mag, .300 Win Mag, and .338 Lapua Mag as well as the magnum class.
Does the mop replace a chamber brush?
No. The mop absorbs liquid and loose residues; a brush mechanically loosens stubborn deposits.
Black Raptor · clean finish instead of universal size
The mop makes sense when size, cartridge, and 8/32 system match. For a controlled finish, we recommend not mixing wet and dry functions with an already saturated mop.

Waffenpflege · Patronenlager · Abschluss
Material Dicht gepackte 100-%-Baumwolle laut vorhandenem Herstellerdatensatz.
