MDT · HNT26 · Tikka T3/T3x
For Tikka, SA/LA mainly means: the right magazine logic These HNT26 versions are designed for Tikka T3/T3x in right-hand configuration. The selection separates Short Action and Long Action by magazine and feeding configuration as well as ARCA/Non-ARCA and fixed/folding stock.
Classic mistake: do not derive SA or LA from a rough caliber assumption and do not automatically plan for the Tikka factory magazine.
Our honest assessment
The HNT26 combines a very light magnesium/carbon construction with a clear Tikka assignment. The crucial point is that the desired cartridge fits into the intended AICS magazine logic. Only then are ARCA and folding real practical decisions for tripod work and transport.
Fits well if … … your Tikka T3/T3x is right-handed and SA/LA has been clearly determined based on the planned AICS magazine.
… you are looking for a lightweight hunting chassis for stalking, territory, or portable precision.
Less suitable if … … you own a left-handed Tikka or want to continue using the existing factory magazine without further checks.
… a heavy PRS chassis with a lot of additional weight suits your use better.
Variant choice with practical impact
Tikka SA For AICS Short Action; in the stored MDT data up to about 2.96″ cartridge overall length. This is a tru
te Magazine/feed limit.
Tikka LA For the MDT long-action metal magazine with about 3.560″. The LA choice is not just a different color or stock length.
ARCA or Non-ARCA Choose ARCA only if a matching clamp is really used. Non-ARCA remains an M-LOK-capable carbon fore-end.
Folding or fixed Folding saves packed size; fixed is easier if the rifle mostly stays ready for use.
Limits & avoiding bad purchases
All variants listed here are RH. The chassis works with AICS magazines and not automatically with the Tikka factory magazine. For SA, the magazine/COAL limit is different than for LA. If you can’t clearly assign cartridge and magazine, you should clarify this point before ordering instead of deciding by the action name alone.
Technical data with practical interpretation
Construction AZ61 magnesium base plus carbon stock, fore-end, and grip – clearly designed for low carry weight.
Weight HNT26 family approx. 26–31 oz depending on stock/fore-end. The exact variant value is not made up.
LOP About 12.5–13.5″ – sensible for cheek weld and clothing, must fit scope height.
Packed size Approx. 29.8″ with stock; folding version about 20.6″ folded.
Fore-end About 11.9″; M-LOK and depending on variant integrated ARCA.
Barrel contour Maximum about 1.250″ barrel diameter according to available MDT data.
Scope of delivery
HNT26 chassis base for the chosen Tikka T3/T3x RH configuration, carbon fore-end in ARCA/non-ARCA version, carbon pistol grip, HNT stock fixed or folding, four stock spacers as well as model-dependent action and fore-end screws. Not confirmed included: barreled action, bolt, magazine, optic, ARCA counterpart, tripod or bipod.
Safe use
Assembly only on a fully unloaded system. After installation check magazine catch, feed, bolt travel, safety, free movement and all fasteners. Do not transfer SA/LA data and assembly instructions from another Tikka or MDT variant.
FAQ
Why are there Tikka SA and LA? The distinction mainly concerns magazine well, magazine length and feed; it must not be derived only from the outer receiver. Can I use the Tikka factory magazine? Not automatically. This chassis is designed for the respective AICS configuration. When is ARCA useful? When a matching ARCA clamp on tripod, bipod or rest is part of your real setup. Is the LA version simply for “larger calibers”? Not generally. The decisive factors are cartridge, permissible overall length and the matching MDT/AICS magazine.
Black Raptor · Magazine logic before features
With the Tikka HNT26, the right variant is decided by cartridge and magazine path. When SA/LA is clearly clarified, the lightweight design can show its strength in the field; without this assignment, any feature list is secondary.

MDT · HNT26 · Tikka T3/T3x

So pauschal nein.
