MDT · AICS Metal Magazine
With this magazine, the variant decides – not just the caliber
MDT bundles Short Action, Long Action, CIP, and XM in one offer here. That’s why you first need to determine the magazine well of the chassis and then the matching caliber/length family before buying.
Check AICS fitting, system length, and cartridge length first

Black-Raptor classification: An AICS magazine is only a good choice if magazine well, action length, and cartridge family match. The wide variety of options is an advantage – but it makes blind purchases by caliber especially risky.
Fits well / fits rather not

Fits well if …
Your chassis or bottom metal explicitly accepts the required AICS length class.
You can clearly determine Short Action, Long Action, CIP, or XM before ordering.
You consciously choose between binder plate and no binder plate for .308-based variants.
You are looking for a robust metal magazine for range, long range, hunting, or reloading.

Fits rather not if …
You select only by caliber or firearm model.
The magazine well of the system is not documented.
You want to insert a 3.850 CIP or XM variant into a normal Short Action well.
You plan the 4.050-.338 Lapua variant for an MDT chassis – this is explicitly marked as not for MDT chassis in the existing data set.

Variant choice without buying mistakes

Short Action .308 family Available with 5 or 10 rounds and with or without binder plate. With binder plate is di
e usable cartridge length is limited; without a binder plate, more length becomes interesting, provided the feed and system reliably support it.

.223 and 6 mm BR Own variants with special feed geometry. Do not replace with a .308 magazine just because the magazine well looks similar externally.

Long Action 3.560 / 3.715 3.560 is assigned in the shop to, among others, Tikka T3/T3x and Savage Axis LA. 3.715 covers other Long Action configurations like .30-06, 300 Win. Mag., or .338 Lapua families.

CIP 3.850 / Medium XM For chassis with explicitly matching length class. The XM variants are named in the existing dataset for Defiance XM Standard or Magnum.

Limits, disadvantages, and typical bad purchases

AICS is not a universal standard. The decisive factor is always the specific length class of the receiver. Especially in Long Action, 3.560, 3.715, 3.850 CIP, and 4.050 differ significantly.
More capacity is not automatically better. For hunting setups, a 5-round magazine may be less bulky; for training or matches, 10 rounds are often more practical.
No rework on suspicion: If a magazine does not lock or feed cleanly, first check variant, cartridge length, and receiver instead of mechanically adjusting feed lips or chassis.

Technical data with practical interpretation

Magazine standard AICS pattern – use only with compatible receiver.

Material Depending on variant, metal/steel; some 3-round CIP variants are made of aluminum.

Capacities 3, 5, 7, or 10 rounds – choose according to purpose.

Length classes Short Action, Long Action 3.560/3.715, CIP 3.850, Medium XM, and 4.050.

Caliber families Among others .223 Rem., 6 mm BR, .308 family, 300 WSM/6.5 PRC, .30-06 family, 300 Win. Mag., 300 PRC, .338 Lapua, and 6.5x55 – always check with variant title.

Scope of delivery

Included: 1 × MDT metal magazine in the chosen shop variant.
Firearm, chassis, bottom metal, ammunition, and accessories are not included.

Safe use
Check compatibility first on an unloaded system. The empty magazine must lock cleanly and release without force. Only then test function with the ammunition approved for the firearm according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not make improvised changes to magazine or firearm if feeding problems occur.

FAQ
Is caliber enough for selection? No. Additionally, magazine standard, action length, and the specific length class of the receiver must match.
What is important about the binder plate? It limits the usable overall cartridge length. Variants without binder plate are interesting for longer setups but require a matching feed.
Which variant fits Tikka T3/T3x Long Action? In the existing Shopify dataset, the Long Action 3.560 variants are explicitly assigned to Tikka T3/T3x and Savage Axis. Still, the specific magazine well of the chassis must be checked.
Is the 4.050-.338 Lapua variant for MDT chassis? No. This variant is explicitly marked in the existing dataset as not for MDT chassis.
What should I check first after purchase? Fit, locking, secure release, and then feeding with the actually intended ammunition.

Clear purchase decision
A good choice if you know your AICS receiver and the required length class exactly. Do not order on suspicion if only caliber or firearm model is known – with this product, variant choice is the decisive part of compatibility. (Show description in original language)

MDT · AICS Metallmagazin

Welche Variante passt zu Tikka T3/T3x Long Action?
