Unity Tactical FAST Optic Riser – 2.26 inch optic height for EOTech EXPS, Vortex UH-1 & Lower-1/3 optics
A higher optic line isn’t just a trend. It changes how you work behind the firearm. The Unity Tactical FAST Optic Riser is an elevated MIL-STD M1913 Picatinny platform for block-style red dot and holographic optics with Lower-1/3 co-witness height – for example EOTech EXPS, Leupold LCO, or Vortex UH-1.
Important: The riser itself is not a “Lower-1/3 mount.” It’s designed to bring an already Lower-1/3 height optic up to the Unity FAST height. Combined with suitable optics, it creates an optical axis height of about 2.26 inches / 5.74 cm above the rail.

Why exactly the Unity Tactical FAST Optic Riser? ✔ brings many Lower-1/3 co-witness optics to 2.26 inches / approx. 5.74 cm optical axis height ✔ ideal for EOTech EXPS series, Leupold LCO, Vortex UH-1 and comparable rail-mounted optics ✔ elevated MIL-STD M1913 Picatinny platform for direct optic mounting ✔ full height logic with Unity FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts ✔ more upright head position with helmet, hearing protection, headset, face mask or NVG environment ✔ useful for AR-15 / AR-10 / carbine setups with red dot or holographic sight ✔ standard mounting with 2 cross-bolt rail clamps ✔ compatible with optional Unity FAST QD lever ✔ 7075-T6 aluminum according to manufacturer ✔ Type III hardcoat anodized according to manufacturer
What does the FAST Optic Riser really do?
The FAST Optic Riser doesn’t just raise any optic arbitrarily. It’s built for a specific starting point: you have a rail-mounted optic already at Lower-1/3 co-witness height and want to bring that optic up to the Unity FAST height.
The best-known example is the EOTech EXPS series. An EXPS sits higher from the factory than an XPS and is designed as a Lower-1/3 co-witness optic. When mounted on the FAST Optic Riser, the desired 2.26-inch optic height is achieved.

Starting point: Lower-1/3 co-witness rail-mounted optic

Riser function: additional elevation of approx. 0.670 inches / approx. 17 mm

Result: approx. 2.26 inches / 5.74 cm optical axis height

Goal: more upright head position, better gear compatibility, and FAST system logic

Important: Lower-1/3 is the starting point – FAST is the result. ✔ The riser is designed for many Lower-1/3 rail-mounted sights, e.g. EOTech EXPS, Leupold LCO, or Vortex UH-1 ✔ Combined with these optics, the 2.26-inch FAST height is achieved ❌ This does not mean you still have classic co-witness with iron sights The point is not co-witness, but the higher FAST sight line.
Co-witness explained
Co-witness describes how mechanical sights and red dot/holographic optics align with each other.

Absolute co-witness: red dot and mechanical sights are roughly on the same line. On AR platforms, this height is roughly around 1.4 inches / 3.6 cm.

Lower 1/3 co-witness: the mechanical sight appears in the lower third of the optic window. This height varies by manufacturer roughly between 1.5–1.63 inches / approx. 3.8–4.1 cm.

Unity FAST 2.26 inch: significantly higher sight line
ie. Mechanical standard sights are generally no longer classically co-witness capable.

No classic Co-Witness setup: If you put a Lower-1/3 optic on the FAST Optic Riser, you leave the classic Co-Witness logic. The optic sits higher so that head position, helmet/mask compatibility, and magnifier integration work better. If you absolutely want to use classic mechanical backup sights in the optic window, you should consciously question this height.
What do 2.26 inches mean in practice?
2.26 inches correspond to about 5.74 cm optical axis height above the rail. That sounds like a small number but significantly changes the behavior of the weapon.
You have to bring your head less deep behind the weapon. The cheek weld is more upright, the neck position more relaxed, and the visual acquisition can be faster – especially with helmet, headset, protective mask, plate carrier, or hearing protection.

More upright head posture: less “rolling in” behind the optic

More gear compatibility: better with helmet, hearing protection, mask, and headset

Faster visual acquisition: the optic often meets the eye more naturally

More mechanical offset: you have to hold higher at short distances

Different balance in the setup: height and accessory logic must be consciously planned

Trainer tip: You have to train 2.26 inches The FAST height often feels immediately comfortable. The price is a greater offset between barrel axis and sight line at short range. Shoot consciously at 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 m and mark your actual holds. Those who use FAST height but don’t know close-range holdover only use the system halfway.
Why this height can make sense on AR platforms
On AR-15 and AR-10 platforms, the optic traditionally sits relatively low. That works but can quickly become uncomfortable with modern equipment.
With helmet, hearing protection, headset, or mask, you have to lower your head more with low optic heights. The FAST Optic Riser raises the optic to a position that is more ergonomic for many dynamic setups.

With hearing protection: less pressure and less disturbing interaction between ear cups, stock, and head position

With helmet: easier view through the optic because the head has to be less deep behind the weapon

With protective mask: higher line often makes it easier to look through the sight

With plate carrier: more upright upper body can work more naturally

For taller shooters: often significantly more comfortable cheek weld

For dynamic drills: find the optic faster when cheek weld and head position are trained

FAST height or classic mounting height? ✔ FAST / 2.26 inches: strong with helmet, mask, hearing protection, headset, NVG environment, and dynamic setups ✔ classic Lower-1/3 height: flatter, familiar, and easier for standard range setups ✔ Absolute Co-Witness: very low and direct, but often less comfortable with modern equipment The higher mounting is not an end in itself. It must fit your cheek weld, your platform, and your training.
Compatibility – which optics fit?
According to Unity Tactical, the FAST Optic Riser is designed for most rail-mounted Lower-1/3 Co-Witness optics. This means optics that already have their own Picatinny mounting base at Lower-1/3 height.

EOTech EXPS series: very typical combination and one of the main use cases

Leupold LCO: suitable Lower-1/3 optic according to manufacturer logic

Vortex UH-1: also a typical blocky holographic/red dot optic for this riser logic

Sig Sauer Romeo4 / similar optics: possible if height, mounting base, and setup fit

Important before purchase: Not every red dot optic automatically fits. It’s not just Picatinny that matters but the starting height of the optic. The FAST Optic Riser is intended for Lower-1/3 rail-mounted optics. Absolute Co-Witness optics can be mechanically mountable but don’t always fit cleanly with the Uni
ty FAST FTC Magnifier Height Logic.
FAST Optic Riser and Unity FAST FTC Magnifier
The riser is matched to the Unity FAST height logic and can be combined with FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts.
FTC stands for "Flip To Center." The magnifier does not flip to the side of the weapon but is moved down out of the line of sight. This keeps the system slimmer than many classic flip-to-side solutions.

Optic at FAST height: e.g. EOTech EXPS on FAST Optic Riser

Magnifier on FAST FTC Mount: height logic matches the 2.26-inch optic line

Slimmer profile: magnifier does not stick out to the side like many flip-to-side systems

Quick switch: 1x red dot / holo or magnified view depending on position

More system weight: magnifier, riser, and optic must be considered as a complete package

FAST Riser without magnifier or with FTC Magnifier?
✔ Optic only: lighter, simpler, fewer components
✔ Optic + FTC Magnifier: more identification and range, but more weight and more operating logic
✔ LPVO: different solution for variable magnification, but with different operating and cheek weld logic
The riser also makes sense without a magnifier. Its full system potential is shown with Unity FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts.
Our assessment
The Unity Tactical FAST Optic Riser is a professional solution for users who consciously plan optic height, cheek weld, and accessories as a system.
It is especially strong on AR-/Carbine platforms with EOTech EXPS, Vortex UH-1, or Leupold LCO. In combination with a FAST FTC Magnifier, it creates a very modern red-dot/holographic magnifier setup with a high sight line, slimmer magnifier profile, and more upright head position.
However, it is not automatically better for everyone. Those who work without a helmet, without a magnifier, and without the need for a high head position often find classic height simpler. Also, those who shoot precise small target zones at close range must master the changed mechanical offset cleanly.
Suitable for:

AR-15 / AR-10 / Carbine setups with holo or red-dot optic
EOTech EXPS, Vortex UH-1, Leupold LCO, and similar lower-1/3 optics
Setups with Unity FAST FTC Magnifier Mount
Shooters with helmet, hearing protection, headset, or protective mask
Dynamic range and tactical training setups
Users who want to consciously use a more upright head position

Less suitable for:

Optics without suitable M1913/lower-1/3 mounting logic
Setups where the sight line should remain as low as possible
Classic hunting or precision builds without red-dot/magnifier concept
Users who do not want to actively train close-range holdover
LPVO setups – other Unity FAST LPVO / REKE products are intended for this

Application scenarios

AR / Carbine: higher optic line for a more upright head position and faster target acquisition.

EOTech EXPS setup: typical lower-1/3 holographic optic brought to FAST height by the riser.

Vortex UH-1 / Leupold LCO: useful for block-like rail-mounted optics with suitable starting height.

Magnifier setup: ideal in combination with Unity FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts because optic and magnifier are matched.

Helmet / hearing protection / mask: less rolling behind the optic, better head position with gear on the head.

Dynamic range: faster sighting of the reticle when cheek weld, head position, and offset are well trained.

Instructor tips:
1. First check if your optic is a suitable lower-1/3 rail-mounted optic. Picatinny alone is not enough as a statement.
2. Always check zero after mounting. Any change in optic height, riser, or mount can affect point of impact.
3. Actively train close-range holdover. The 2.26-inch height noticeably changes the offset at short distance.
4. If you use a magnifier, check eye relief, FTC movement, operability, and that nothing collides with backup irons, charging handle, or accessories.

FAQ

Is the FAST Optic Riser itself a Lower-1/3 mount?
No. The riser is an elevated Picatinny platform. It is designed to bring many Lower-1/3 Co-Witness Rail-Mounted optics to an optical sight height of approx. 2.26 inch.

Do I still have classic Co-Witness with the FAST Riser?
Usually no. The FAST height is significantly above classic Absolute or Lower-1/3 Co-Witness height. The focus is on upright head posture, gear compatibility and FAST system logic, not on classic Co-Witness with iron sights.

Does the riser fit EOTech EXPS?
Yes. The EOTech EXPS series is a typical Lower-1/3 rail-mounted optic and one of the main use cases for the FAST Optic Riser.

Does the riser fit Vortex UH-1 or Leupold LCO?
Yes, these optics belong to the matching Lower-1/3 logic. Still, height, mounting surface and overall system should be checked before mount
age verified.

Does the riser work with Unity FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts?
Yes. The FAST Optic Riser is designed for the FAST height logic and can be combined with Unity FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts.

Can I mount absolute co-witness optics on it?
Technically, this may be possible with some optics. However, full compatibility with FAST FTC Magnifier Mounts is then limited. For absolute co-witness optics, the Unity FAST Absolute Riser is often the cleaner solution.

Do I need to re-zero after mounting?
Yes. After any change to the optic, riser, or mount, the point of impact must be checked and the zero confirmed.

Conclusion: The Unity Tactical FAST Optic Riser is the right solution if you want to bring lower 1/3 optics like EOTech EXPS, Leupold LCO, or Vortex UH-1 to a well-thought-out 2.26-inch FAST height. It is especially strong on AR/carbine setups with helmet, hearing protection, protective mask, or Unity FAST FTC Magnifier. The riser is not a blanket "higher is better," but a professional system component for users who consciously plan optic height, cheek weld, magnifier logic, and close-range offset. Unity Tactical FAST
