UTG AccuShot T8 · 1–8×28 · Circle Dot
From a wide 1× image to 8x target acquisition – with an honest LPVO limit The SCP3‑18IECDQ combines an etched Circle-Dot reticle, 36-color illumination, and two included 30-mm QD rings. It fits if you’re looking for a complete Picatinny/Weaver package and are ready to properly adjust eye relief, mounting position, and fixed 100-yd parallax.
Important: It remains a scope with a defined Eye Box even at 1× – not a red dot with unlimited eye relief. Leapers lists the model as zeroed.
Check purchase and compatibility
Our honest assessment The strength lies in the complete system: 1–8×28, 30-mm tube, illuminated Circle Dot, and QD rings in one package. The reticle remains visible thanks to glass etching even without illumination. Downsides of the SCP3‑18IECDQ are the high optic weight of around 510 g without the additional ring mount, the fixed parallax setting at 100 yd, and the limited availability of a zeroed model.
Fits well if …
you want to cover short to medium distances with a 1–8× range,
you prefer a quickly recognizable Circle-Dot reticle over a Mil-Dot or German #4 reticle,
you have a Picatinny/Weaver base and want QD rings included,
around 510 g optic weight plus mounting in
your weight concept fits.
Rather not suitable if …
you expect real red dot features or unlimited eye relief,
you need a modern FFP reticle with scaled holdover marks,
you want to adjust parallax for varying distances,
an 11-mm prism rail or another mounting base without matching rings is used.
Purchase check and proven compatibility
Mounting base: The included QD rings are designed for Picatinny/Weaver. For 11-mm prism rails, you need a different 30-mm mount.
Eye relief: about 127 to 85 mm across the magnification range. Check 1× and 8× in your natural shooting position before tightening the ring position finally.
Parallax: fixed at 100 yd or about 91 m. At significantly shorter distances, a reproducible head position becomes more important.
Reticle: Circle Dot, not Mil-Dot and not BG4. If you prefer the German #4 reticle, compare the UTG SCP3‑18IEBG4 1–8×28 with BG4 reticle.
What the features practically mean
1–8× instead of single-purpose optic At 1× the field of view remains wide; at 8× smaller targets and hit zones become clearer. However, switching takes time and changes the eye box and eye relief.
Etched Circle Dot The circle supports quick centering, the center point the finer aiming reference. Because the reticle is etched, it remains usable with a dead battery.
36 colors with memory Besides red and green, other colors can be selected; the memory function recalls the last setting. More choices don’t replace suitable brightness: too bright light can wash out the sight picture.
QD rings included The quick-release levers make mounting and dismounting easier. Repeatable point of impact still needs to be checked on your setup after each mount change.
Typical misbuys, disadvantages and limits
Confusing Circle Dot with Mil-Dot: This version does not offer Mil-Dot holdover marks.
Equating 1× with red dot: The defined eye box requires a repeatable cheek weld.
Underestimating weight: The optic weighs about 510 g; rings and covers add more.
Ignoring fixed parallax: At other distances, off-center viewing can affect point of impact.
Overlooking discontinued model: Identical spare or complementary parts may become harder to find in the future.
Assuming recoil resistance generally: No model-specific approval list exists for very high-recoil calibers.
Mounting, zeroing and maintenance
Completely unload the firearm, remove magazine and check chamber.
Clean clamping surfaces and rail; initially position QD rings so controls remain accessible.
At 1× set the full field of view in your natural shooting position, then check eye relief at 8×.
Align reticle vertically. Adjust screws and QD tension only according to the actual included instructions or ring specifications.
Zero with the used load, only reset and lock turrets after confirmed zero.
After mounting and dismounting, check zero retention and QD tension again. Blow dust off lenses and clean only with suitable optic materials.
For controlled tightening, the Vortex Pro Torque Wrench for optic mounts fits; torque specs of the respective rings remain decisive.
Instructor and user tips
Train operation in three separate steps: first a clean 1× sight picture without illumination, then a subdued brightness level, and finally switching to 8× from the same position. This quickly shows if mounting position and eye box really fit the user.
After each removal and reattachment of the QD rings, shoot a control group. Same slot position and identical lever tension improve reproducibility but do not replace point of impact checks.
Useful alternatives in comparison
Same base optic, different reticle The
UTG SCP3‑18IEBG4 1–8×28 is the obvious choice if you prefer a BG4-/German-#4 reticle instead of Circle Dot. The link is not an automatic mount or caliber approval.
Current FFP/MOA Concept The INTEGRIX iX801FA1 1–8×28 FFP A1 MOA is aimed at users looking for a modern FFP reticle and a 34 mm tube. The included 30 mm rings of this UTG do not fit there.

Technical Data with Practical Interpretation
Optics 1–8× magnification, 28 mm objective, 30 mm main tube. Variable close-/mid-range optic with classic eye box.
Reticle and Illumination Etched Circle Dot; red/green direct mode and 36-color mode with memory. Usable as a black reticle even without battery.
Field of View and Eye Relief approx. 30.3–4.0 m at 100 yd; eye relief approx. 127–85 mm. The mount must cover both end magnifications.
Adjustment and Parallax 1/2 MOA per click; turrets lockable and zero-resettable; parallax fixed at 100 yd.
Dimensions and Weight approx. 260 mm long and around 510 g for the optic. Packaging and shipping weight are not relevant for weight planning in the setup.
Power and Protection CR2032 for illumination; sealed, nitrogen-filled housing, described by the manufacturer as shock-, fog-, and rainproof.

FAQ about the UTG SCP3‑18IECDQ Is 1× just as freely usable as a red dot? No. Even at 1× the SCP3‑18IECDQ remains a scope with a defined eye box and about 127 mm eye relief at the lower end of the magnification range. What reticle does this exact version have? The model code CDQ stands for the Circle Dot version with etched reticle. It is neither the Mil-Dot nor the BG4 variant. Does the reticle work without a battery? Yes. Illumination requires a CR2032, but the etched reticle remains visible as a black aiming point. Which rail do the included rings fit? The QD rings are designed for Picatinny/Weaver. For an 11 mm prism rail, you need a different 30 mm mount. Is the parallax adjustable? No. It is fixed at 100 yd or about 91 m. At significantly different distances, a centered, repeatable sight picture is especially important. What does the scope weigh? Around 510 g for the optic. Rings and covers increase the total mounted weight. Is the SCP3‑18IECDQ still in the current manufacturer program? No. Leapers lists the model as discontinued. Existing stock can still be used, but later identical repurchase may become more difficult.
Black Raptor Purchase Decision
Circle Dot, 1–8× and QD rings – sensible if eye box, weight, and mount really fit Choose the SCP3‑18IECDQ for its specific reticle and complete mounting set, not just for the eightfold magnification. Check both end magnifications at the hold, confirm zero after each QD change, and consciously plan for the fixed 100 yd parallax.
