Tradition meets modernity The 'Competition Rifle' 223, short CR 223 from Haenel, is an evolution of semi-automatic rifles based on a long tradition. Originally, the first assault rifle was developed at C.G. Haenel in Suhl. The CR 223 is a modern self-loading rifle with a piston system in caliber .223 Rem., based on the AR 15 system. Technical details and customization options As a gas-operated rifle with a rotating bolt, the rifle features a telescopic stock that is adjustable in length in six stages. The free-floating, cold-hammered barrel is available in four barrel lengths: 423 mm, 368 mm, 318 mm, and 254 mm. Trigger and operability The direct trigger releases at about 3,200 g, while the optional fine trigger releases at approximately 1,500 g. The safety is ambidextrous, making handling easier.
