The Torre Annunziata M1891, also known as Fucile Modello 1891, better known as Carcano M91, was the standard rifle of the Italian armed forces from 1891 until the mid-20th century. It was manufactured at the Royal Armory Torre Annunziata (one of several production sites) starting in 1891. At the end of the 19th century, Italy was looking for a modern repeating rifle. The system developed by Salvatore Carcano was introduced in 1891 and replaced older black powder rifles. The Royal Armory Torre Annunziata in Naples was one of the most important production sites. The M91 was used during both World Wars and produced in various variants. This Torre Annunziata was manufactured in 1897 and imported to Germany by the importer Hege. The rifle was proofed in July 1971 in Ulm.
