The BD 38 from Sport Systeme Dittrich is an authentic replica of the MP 38. You can't get closer to the original - the same manufacturing methods and, where possible, the same types of steel were used as in the original. All parts were manufactured as in the original, stamped, formed, forged in dies, or milled and tempered as well as coated. The stock and grip panels are made of Bakelite, while the grip piece and the iconic barrel support are made of anodized aluminum. The stock is, of course, foldable as per the original.
The famous MP38 can certainly be considered the first submachine gun of the second generation - modern, relatively compact weapons with a folding stock and new materials - Bakelite and aluminum. Based on the MP36, which was only produced as a prototype, the MP38 was a high-quality weapon with a massive, milled housing and high-quality finish. For wartime production, this was naturally too elaborate, and the successor, the archetypal MP40, featured a simpler construction with stamped housing. But it is precisely the high manufacturing quality of the MP38 that makes this replica from SSD so special.
Due to the age of the original weapon, this replica is approved for hunters and sport shooters! We offer the BD 38 as standard in the more precise blowback variant, while the blow-forward variant corresponds to the original firing system and is available for order.
What is blowback, what is blow-forward?
"Blowback" refers to a mechanism that is in the front (closed) position when the trigger is pulled. This is the standard for the majority of all firearms. "Blow-forward" refers to a mechanism that is in the rear (open) position when the trigger is pulled and only moves forward by releasing the trigger catch, feeding the cartridge from the magazine, and firing in the front position. This is the standard for weapons designed for high automatic firing loads, machine guns, and classic submachine guns with mass bolt. Due to the mass moving forward and the delay when releasing the trigger, this variant is less precise but corresponds to the original functional principle of the MP 38.

Die BD 38 von Sport Systeme Dittrich ist ein originalgetreuer Nachbau der MP 38. Näher am Original geht nicht - es wurden die gleichen Fertigungsmethoden und wo möglich die gleichen Stahlsorten verwendet, wie beim Original. Alle Teile wurden gefertigt wie beim Original, gestanzt, geprägt, im Gesenk geschmiedet oder gefräst und vergütet sowie beschichtet. Der Schaft und die Griffschalen sind aus Bakelit gefertigt, das Griffstück und die ikonische Laufauflage bestehen aus eloxierten Aluminium. Der Schaft ist natürlich entsprechend dem Orignal klappbar.
Die berühmte MP38 kann durchaus als die Erste Maschinenpistole der Zweiten Generation betrachtet werden - moderne, relativ kompakte Waffen mit Klappschaft und neuen Materialien - Bakelit und Aluminium. Basierend auf der nur als Protoyp gefertigten MP36 war die MP38 ein hochwertige Waffe mit massiven, gefrästen Gehäuse und hochwertigen finish. Für die Kriegsproduktion war das natürlich zu aufwändig und der Nachfolger, die archetypische MP40, wies eine einfachere Konstruktion mit geprägten Gehäuse auf. Aber gerade die hohe Fertigungsqualität der MP38 macht diese Replik von SSD so besonders.
Aufgrund des Alters der Originalwaffe ist dieser Nachbau für Jäger und Sportschützen zugelassen! Wir bieten die BD 38 als Standard in der präziseren aufschießenden Variante an, die zuschießende Variante entspricht dagegen dem originalen Feuersystem und ist bestellbar.
Was ist aufschießend, was ist zuschießend?
"Aufschießend" bezeichnet einen Verschluss, der sich beim betätigen des Abzuges in der vorderen (geschlossenen) Position befindet. Dies ist der Standard für den Großteil aller Schusswaffen.
"Zuschießend" bezeichnet einen Verschluss, der sich beim betätigen des Abzuges in der hinteren (offenen) Position befindet und erst durch das lösen der Abzugsrast nach vorne bewegt, die Patrone aus dem Magazin zuführt und in der vorderen Position abschlägt. Das ist der Standard bei Waffen die für eine hohe automatische Schussbelastung ausgelegt sind, Maschinengewehre und klassische Maschinenpistolen mit Masseverschluss. Durch die sich nach vorne bewegende Masse und die Verzögerung beim lösen des Abzuges ist diese Variante unpräziser aber entspricht dem originalen Funktionsprinzip der MP 38.
