Repeater rifle, Gewehr 98 Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabrik Berlin, cal. 8x57IS, manufactured in 1905, German Empire, WW1, WW2. The 98 system is probably one of, if not the most popular and most imitated weapon systems of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Introduced in 1898 as the standard armament of the Imperial German Army, the Gewehr 98 provided valuable service and formed the backbone of German armament. During the war, the characteristics that made the rifle so popular became evident: robustness, reliability, and precision.
The Gewehr 98 was the standard armament of the German Imperial Forces from 1898 until Germany's capitulation in 1918. However, during the war, the Gewehr 98 earned an almost legendary reputation and was, beyond this reputation, a crucial building block of the aura that surrounds the Mauser company. The influence of the 98 system on future weapon development was also significant, having a direct or indirect impact on everything that followed.
The condition of the weapon is very good; unfortunately, it is not matching numbers and does not have a valid proof, therefore sale is only to collectors or licensed dealers.
The stock of the rifle has been modified for hunting purposes. The weapon features the typical stepped barrel.

Repetierbüchse, Gewehr 98 Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabrik Berlin, Kal. 8x57IS, Fertigung von 1905, Deutsches Kaiserreich, WK1, WK2. Das 98er System ist wahrscheinlich eines der, wenn nicht sogar das populärste und am meisten imitierte Waffensystem des ausgehenden 19ten und des beginnenden 20ten Jahrhunderts. 1898 als Standartbewaffnung der kaiserlich-deutschen Armee eingeführt, leistete das Gewehr 98 wertvolle Dienste und bildete das Rückrat der deutschen Bewaffnung. Während des Krieges zeigten sich auch die Eigenschaften, die das Gewehr so populär machten: Robustheit, Zuverlässigkeit und Präzision.
Das Gewehr 98 war ab 1898 die Standartbewaffnung der deutsch-kaiserlichen Streitkräfte und blieb es bis zur Kapitulation Deutschlands im Jahr 1918. Doch während des Krieges erwarb sich das Gewehr 98 einen beinah legendären Ruf und war über diesen Ruf hinaus ein wesentlicher Baustein des Nimbus, der der Firma Mauser anhaftet. Wesentlich war auch der Einfluss des Systems 98 auf die zukünftige Waffenentwicklung, der direkte oder indirekte Auswirkung auf alles hatte, was folgen sollte.
Der Zustand der Waffe ist sehr gut, leider ist sie nicht nummerngleich und verfügt über keinen gültigen Beschuss, daher Verkauf nur an Sammler oder Waffenhändler.
Der Schaft des Gewehrs ist jagdlich umgebaut worden. Die Waffe verfügt über den typischen Stufenlauf.
