The various calls of the hooded crows, as well as aggressive warning calls, can be deceptively well imitated. When producing the different calls, it is always important to ensure that the airflow comes from the belly (not from the cheeks), sometimes more, sometimes less, supported by a rolling sound, similar to a gurgle in the throat. This creates the typical "cawing." With the hollow hand, the individual calls can be modulated at the sound funnel.

Die verschiedenen Sammelrufe, sowie aggressive Warnrufe der Rabenkrähen können täuschend echt nachgeahmt werden. Bei der Abgabe der verschiedenen Rufe ist immer darauf zu achten, dass der Luftstrom aus dem Bauch (nicht aus den Backen), einmal mehr, einmal weniger mit einem Rollen, ähnlich einem Gurgeln im Kehlkopf, unterstützt wird. So ensteht das typische “Krächzen”. Mit der hohlen Hand können die einzelnen Rufe am Schalltrichter moduliert werden.
