More than 40% of all shooters who shoot with open sights, such as clay target and pistol shooters, have problems with eye dominance.
Here's how to determine your dominant eye!
Extend your right arm and point your upright thumb at a target about 5 meters away. Keep both eyes open.
Close your left eye. If your thumb remains on the target, your right eye is the dominant eye. If you are a right-handed shooter, everything is fine.
However, if your thumb shifts away from the target when you close your left eye, your left eye is likely the dominant eye! You can verify this by aiming at the target again with both eyes open and then closing your right eye. If your thumb stays on the target, your left eye is definitely your dominant eye.
If you are a left-handed shooter, everything is fine! But if you are a right-handed shooter, you need to cover your left eye when shooting with a shotgun or pistol.
To correct this eye dominance, there is now the brilliant aid REDEYE.

So ermitteln Sie ihr Führungsauge!
Zielen Sie bei ausgestrecktem rechten Arm mit dem aufgerichteten Daumen auf ein etwa 5 Meter entferntes Ziel. Beide Augen offen.
Schließen Sie das linke Auge. Bleibt der Daumen im Ziel, ist Ihr rechtes Auge das Führungsauge. Sind Sie Rechtsschütze, ist alles o.k.
Wandert aber beim Schließen des linken Auges der Daumen vom Ziel ab, ist vermutlich Ihr linkes Auge das Führungsauge! Sie können dieses kontrollieren, wenn Sie noch einmal mit beiden offenen Augen mit dem Daumen das Ziel anpeilen und dann das rechte Auge schließen. Bleibt der Daumen auf dem Ziel stehen, ist ihr linkes Auge eindeutig Ihr Führungsauge.
Sind Sie Linksschütze, ist alles o.k.! Aber wenn Sie Rechtsschütze sind, müssen Sie das linke Auge beim Flinten- oder Pistolenschießen abdecken.
