Description détaillée
The Saiga MKK-104 adopts the iconic mechanical design of the Kalashnikov family in a semi-automatic version intended for the civilian market. It operates by long-stroke piston gas operation and rotating bolt, a characteristic architecture of the AK platform.
This MKK-104 is the short variant of the range: unlike the Saiga MK equipped with a 415 mm barrel, the MKK has a 341 mm (13.4″) barrel. This configuration corresponds to the compact civilian version derived from the AK-104 architecture.
The example shown here is the fixed stock version sold in France. The Armsco catalogue of the time indicates for this configuration a total length of 830 mm, a weight of about 3.2 kg, a military-grade 341 mm barrel, and a 10-round magazine in the external format of a 30-round magazine.
The carbine retains the characteristic look of modern Kalashnikovs with its stamped steel receiver, black polymer furniture, and mechanical rear sight. The handguard also features 21 mm Picatinny rails allowing accessory mounting.
Its Russian manufacture is today one of its main interests: the markings visible on this example clearly indicate SAIGA-MK, KALASHNIKOV, MADE IN RUSSIA, and IZHMASH.
