Das Steiner M8Xi 1–8 × 24 IFS verbindet eine vielseitige 1- bis 8-fache Vergrößerung mit einer besonders kompakten Bauform. Das großzügige Sehfeld von 34,2 m auf 100 m bei 1× unterstützt eine schnelle Zielerfassung, während die 8-fache Vergrößerung genügend Reserven für eine detaillierte Beobachtung auf mittlere Distanzen bietet. Das robuste 34-mm-Gehäuse ist stickstoffgefüllt, bis 20 m druckwasserdicht und für Stoßbelastungen bis 900 G ausgelegt.
Das besondere Merkmal dieser Ausführung ist die IFS – Intelligent Firing Solution. Ein integriertes Display kann relevante Informationen wie Verkantung, aktuelle Turmstellung und ballistische Daten direkt im Sichtfeld anzeigen. Der integrierte ballistische Rechner nutzt dabei Sensordaten wie Temperatur, Luftdruck, Neigungswinkel und Winddrift. Die Darstellung kann über eine mobile Anwendung und die integrierte Bluetooth-Schnittstelle an die eigenen Anforderungen angepasst werden.
Das DMR8i-Absehen befindet sich in der 2. Bildebene und verfügt über 11 Beleuchtungsstufen, davon sieben Nacht- und vier Tagstufen. Die Mechanik arbeitet mit 0,1-MRAD-Klicks, einer Höhenverstellung von 27 MIL sowie einer Seitenverstellung von ±6 MIL. Trotz der umfangreichen Ausstattung bleibt das M8Xi IFS mit einer Länge von maximal 270 mm und rund 820 g bemerkenswert kompakt.
