Oltre dieci anni fa, Eric Cortina presentò l'originale EC Tuner. L'EC Tuner offriva un modo semplice ed efficiente di regolare l'accordatore, grazie a un design privo di attrezzi. L'EC Tuner originale utilizza viti di tensione per creare una resistenza sufficiente a far sì che l'accordatore rimanga fermo dopo la regolazione, ma consente comunque all'utente di spostarlo se necessario. L'EC Tuner originale è stato progettato per consentire all'utente di trovare il nodo in meno di un giro.
