1905 wurde die 8x57 IS aus der alten Militärpatrone 8x57 I entwickelt- das S steht für Spitz-Geschoss. Dieses universell einsetzbare Kaliber kann auf alles in Europa vorkommende Wild optimal eingesetzt werden, da man mit ihm in der Regel geringere Hämatombildung zu verzeichnen hat. GECO bietet mit dem 12,0 g Teilmantel-Geschoss und Target sowie dem 12,7 g schweren GECO Plus-Geschoss eine breite Auswahl diesen beliebten Kalibers an. Für alle Bleifrei-Fans gibt es eine weitere Laborierung mit dem GECO ZERO und 9,0 g Geschossgewicht.
