With the DF 60E, the DF 65E, and the DF 61E, Merkel offers three additional double-barrel shotgun models alongside the double-barrel shotguns 40E / 45E / 41E . Merkel has equipped all three with Suhl side locks and intricately crafted mainsprings, which are intended to ensure very short shot development times.
As with the DF 45E , Merkel offers the DF 65E in an English-style version of the base model. The stock is authentically English, and the stock end is hand-cut. The appearance is meant to give the weapon the traditional English rifle style and a high degree of elegance and grace.
The DF 61E is the fine sister of the DF 60E. Here, Merkel relies on the slim base calibers 28 or .410 from the factory, while the DF 60E and the DF 65E are based on the more common calibers 12/76 and 20/76.
All three models feature the Merkel double trigger. The length and weight of the shotgun depend on the chosen caliber. While the double-barrel shotguns 60E and 65E in caliber 12 weigh about 3.1 kg with a barrel length of 71 cm and an overall length of 113 cm, they weigh only about 2.8 kg in caliber 20 with a barrel length of 68 cm and an overall length of 110 cm. The DF 61E has a weight of just 2.5 kg.
