Patented FlexLock design features a non-"clogging" hollow point/cavity covered by an elastomer insert called FlexTip, as well as a strong bullet jacket with an Interlock band known from hunting bullets that prevents core/jacket separation. The bullet core is made of antimony-rich hard lead, which, in conjunction with the bullet jacket design, ensures controlled expansion, high energy transfer, and previously unmatched stopping power with maximum retained weight. The cannelured bullet is firmly crimped to the case, preventing bullet setback in the case (e.g., due to recoil or multiple loading/unloading). The high-quality brass case is nickel-plated for extremely reliable cartridge feeding under all climatic conditions and low extraction resistance. The bullet and primer are sealed against oil and water.
The high-quality propellants produce a low muzzle flash to reduce self-blinding, especially during firing in darker lighting conditions.

In addition to law enforcement applications, these high-quality cartridges are also ideally suited for hunting use.
