It is sharpened and pointed.This Katana is dedicated to Takamori Saigo, who is considered the last Samurai. He fought to preserve Japanese traditions and heritage, but never lost loyalty to the Japanese Emperor. In 1877, he fell (or committed Seppuku) in the Battle of Shiroyama.This late Katana is based on originals from the 19thcentury. It has a blade crafted in the Shinogi-Zukuri style with a groove (Bo-Hi). The blade is made of1045 carbon steel with a hardness of 55 HRC. The blade is razor-sharp and finished with a Hamon.The handle is crafted in the classic Hineri-Maki style. It is wrapped with ray skin and covered with coarsely woven cotton. The handle features two bamboo pins (Mekugi) that attach it to the tang construction (Nakago).This Katana comes with a wooden sheath. The sheath is made in the Kuroro style.This Katana is 101 cm long, has a blade length of 73 cm, and weighs 1000 grams.
