The reproduction of this classic is an authentic design. The Rogers & Spencer is a great and above all robust revolver in excellent quality, especially for people with large hands. The Rogers & Spencer revolver is a percussion revolver that was manufactured during the American Civil War by the Rogers & Spencer company in Utica, New York.  At the height of the Civil War, the Union government commissioned the development of a new revolver. The goal was to develop a new standard weapon for officers and cavalry. The US government favored the concept of the Rogers & Spencer company (Willowvale/N.Y.) and ordered the revolver in a batch of 5,000 on November 29, 1864. Production only started in 1865 and the end of the war preceded mass production. Therefore, the weapon was only used sporadically in the Civil War. Production was soon discontinued due to lack of demand. Of the 5,800 weapons produced, the government took over 5,000 and equipped parts of the army, police, etc. These weapons can be recognized by the inspector mark RPB (for Robert P. Barry) stamped on the bottom of the left grip panel. The weapons not distributed by the government were taken over in 1901 by the company Francis Bannerman, a New York dealer of military material, and entered the civilian market.The Rogers & Spencer revolver at first glance resembles the Remington New Model Army. In fact, the construction of the weapon externally corresponded to the Remington; like it, it had a closed frame and an octagonal barrel, both in contrast to the later Colt percussion revolvers. An advantage of the weapon over weapons from other manufacturers was the good access to the piston, allowing the percussion caps to be placed easily and simply. On top of the frame was stamped ROGERS & SPENCER/UTICA N.Y.The revolver was manufactured in caliber .44 with a 7.5-inch barrel, total weight 1.3 kg, length 35 cm. It was loaded with paper cartridges, round or conical bullets. It was considered precise and accurately manufactured, which positively affected functionality.
